High-performance broadband heterojunction photodetectors based on multilayered PtSe2 directly grown on a Si substrate

SJR Q1FWCI 5.2Nanoscale

Two-dimensional group-10 transition metal dichalcogenides have recently attracted increasing research interest because of their unique electronic and optoelectronic properties. Herein, we present vertical hybrid heterojunctions of multilayered PtSe2 and Si, which take advantage of large-scale homogeneous PtSe2 films grown directly on Si substrates. These heterojunctions show obvious rectifying behavior and a pronounced photovoltaic effect, enabling them to function as self-driven photodetectors

Roles of Primary Cilia in the Developing Brain
Sang Min Park, Hee Jin Jang, Jeong Ho Lee
SJR Q1FWCI 12.2Frontiers in Cellular NeuroscienceOA

Essential to development, primary cilia are microtubule-based cellular organelles that protrude from the surface of cells. Acting as cellular antenna, primary cilia play central roles in transducing or regulating several signaling pathways, including Sonic hedgehog (Shh) and Wnt signaling. Defects in primary cilia contribute to a group of syndromic disorders known as "ciliopathies" and can adversely affect development of the brain and other essential organs, including the kidneys, eyes, and live

SJR Q1FWCI 9.1Advanced Materials

Compared with conventional organic solar cells (OSCs) based on single donor-acceptor pairs, terpolymer- and ternary-based OSCs featuring multiple donor-acceptor pairs are promising strategies for enhancing the performance while maintaining an easy and simple synthetic process. Using multiple donor-acceptor pairs in the active layer, the key photovoltaic parameters (i.e., short-circuit current density, open-circuit voltage, and fill factor) governing the OSC characteristics can be simultaneously

Nitrogen‐ and Phosphorus‐Doped Nanoporous Graphene/Graphitic Carbon Nitride Hybrids as Efficient Electrocatalysts for Hydrogen Evolution

SJR Q1FWCI 3.6ChemCatChem

Abstract The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is one of the key steps in clean and efficient energy conversion techniques; however, the mass production of current HER devices is hampered by several shortcomings, which include kinetically sluggish processes, stability, and the use of expensive catalysts. In this work we report the facile synthesis of metal‐free hybrids by integrating graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C 3 N 4 ) with nitrogen‐ and phosphorus‐doped nanoporous graphene sheets. A phosphoru

Structures in turbulent boundary layers subjected to adverse pressure gradients
Joung‐Ho Lee, Hyung Jin Sung
SJR Q1FWCI 5.0Journal of Fluid Mechanics

The effects of adverse pressure gradients on turbulent structures were investigated by carrying out direct numerical simulations of turbulent boundary layers subjected to adverse and zero pressure gradients. The equilibrium adverse pressure gradient flows were established by using a power law free-stream distribution U ∞ ~ x m . Two-point correlations of velocity fluctuations were used to show that the spanwise spacing between near-wall streaks is affected significantly by a strong adverse press

Long-term durable silicon photocathode protected by a thin Al2O3/SiOx layer for photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution

SJR Q1FWCI 3.0Journal of Materials Chemistry A

The long-term steady production of H2 is vital for p-Si photocathodes. However, the oxidation of a Si photoelectrode substantially deteriorates its performance, over time. This study demonstrates that a thin Al2O3 layer deposited over the Si can prevent oxidation and also reduce overpotential, via a surface passivation effect.

Neighboring genes are often coordinately expressed within cis-regulatory modules, but evidence that nonparalogous genes share functions in mammals is lacking. Here, we report that mutation of either TMEM138 or TMEM216 causes a phenotypically indistinguishable human ciliopathy, Joubert syndrome. Despite a lack of sequence homology, the genes are aligned in a head-to-tail configuration and joined by chromosomal rearrangement at the amphibian-to-reptile evolutionary transition. Expression of the tw
