15Researchers need to consider statistical independence when performing statistical analysis, particularly in studies involving bilateral cases. If data dependency within a subject is not considered, studies involving bilateral cases can bias results, depending on the context of those studies.
The following factors could reduce radiation exposure during intraoperative use of C-arm; (1) distance from the patient, (2) C-arm configuration, (3) radioprotective equipments, (4) rotating the surgeons' eyes away from the patient, and (5) avoiding direct exposure of surgeons' hands.
Patellar height is associated with various clinical syndromes. We asked which of three methods was the most appropriate for measuring patellar height for different age groups in terms of applicability, validity, and reliability. We evaluated 108 children and adolescents with available MR images and lateral knee radiographs using Insall-Salvati (IS), Blackburne-Peel, and Koshino-Sugimoto (KS) methods. Subjects were divided equally into three age groups (A, 5-10.9 years; B, 11-12.9 years; C, 13-18

The four upper extremity fractures tended to show greater variations than the two lower extremity fractures in the nationwide database in South Korea. The study results are believed to be helpful in the planning and assignment of medical resources for fracture management in children and adolescents.
This study investigates the overall rate of urinary retention in a large cohort of unselected orthopaedic patients who had either general or regional anesthesia and defines the risk factors for postoperative urinary retention in that cohort of patients. A total of 15,681 patients who underwent major orthopaedic surgery with general or spinal/epidural anesthesia were included. Postoperative urinary retention was defined as any patient who required a postoperative consultation to the urologic depa

The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of oral alendronate for children with osteogenesis imperfecta. Nine boys and seven girls of average age 9.5 years were given oral alendronate for an average of 4 years. Fracture frequency decreased, and in more than half of the patients the ambulatory/mobility status improved. Bone mineral density improved significantly, and restoration of collapsed vertebral bodies was observed. Urinary excretion of calcium and a bone resorption marker d
The Duncan-Ely test shows excellent reliability in fast knee-flexion velocity, and good sensitivity and specificity compared with 3DGA during physical examination as a preoperative assessment of rectus femoris spasticity in patients with CP.
