조남익 교수의 연구실은 신호 처리 및 이미지 압축 분야에서 핵심적인 기여를 하고 있습니다. 주요 연구 방향은 고속 DCT(이산余弦변환) 알고리즘 설계, 적응형 노치 필터를 활용한 주기성 신호 추출, 그리고 주파수 성분을 비선형적으로 압축할 수 있는 와핑된 DCT(WDCT) 기반 영상 압축 기법 개발입니다. 특히 실시간 처리에 적합한 하드웨어 효율성과 낮은 SNR 환경에서도 뛰어난 성능을 보이는 알고리즘 설계에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다.

A lattice notch filter for the detection and enchancement of sinusoids in noise is presented, and the convergence properties of the algorithm are investigated using ODE (ordinary differential equation) analysis.
