15The strain index based on the fat to lesion strain ratio has diagnostic performance comparable with that of B-mode sonography for differentiation of benign and malignant breast masses.
After breast conservation therapy in women 50 years or younger, the addition of MRI to annual mammography screening improves detection of early-stage but biologically aggressive breast cancers at acceptable specificity. Results from this study can inform patient decision making on screening methods after breast conservation therapy.
Sonographic classification of axillary lymph nodes is effective for predicting the presence of metastases to avoid sentinel node biopsy or to reduce unsuccessful lymphatic mapping during sentinel node biopsy.
Combined use of US elastography and color Doppler US increases both the accuracy in distinguishing benign from malignant masses and the specificity in decision-making for biopsy recommendation at B-mode US.
Breast cancers with higher K(trans) and k(ep) , or lower v(e) , had poor prognostic factors and were often of the triple-negative subtype.
Elastography was found to have a diagnostic performance comparable to that of conventional US for the differentiation of nonpalpable breast masses. The authors conclude that BI-RADS category 4a lesions with an elasticity score of 1 probably do not require biopsy.
During the last 15 years, traditional breast cancer classifications based on histopathology have been reorganized into the luminal A, luminal B, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), and basal-like subtypes based on gene expression profiling. Each molecular subtype has shown varying risk for progression, response to treatment, and survival outcomes. Research linking the imaging phenotype with the molecular subtype has revealed that non-calcified, relatively circumscribed masses with p
Objective: To compare the diagnostic performances of conventional ultrasound (US) and US elastography for the differentiation of nonpalpable breast masses, and to evaluate whether elastography is helpful at reducing the number of benign biopsies, using histological analysis as a reference standard. Materials and Methods: Conventional US and real-time elastographic images were obtained for 100 women who had been scheduled for a US-guided core biopsy of 100 nonpalpable breast masses (83 benign, 17
PRM analysis of DCE MR images may enable the early identification of the pathologic response to NAC after the first cycle of chemotherapy, whereas pharmacokinetic parameters (K(trans), kep, and ve) do not.
The outcomes of the sonographically guided core biopsies performed with the 11-gauge vacuum-assisted device were better than those outcomes of the biopsies performed with the 14-gauge automated gun in terms of underestimation, rebiopsy and the false negative rate, although these differences were not statistically significant.
The performance of the radiologists with respect to the characterization of solid breast masses with static 2D US images was similar to that with 3D US data.
Objective: To compare the outcomes of 14-gauge automated biopsy and 11-gauge vacuum-assisted biopsy for the sonographically guided core biopsies ofbreast lesions. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all sonographically guidedcore biopsies performed from January 2002 to February 2004. The sonographicallyguided core biopsies were performed with using a 14-gauge automatedgun on 562 breast lesions or with using an 11-gauge vacuum-assisted deviceon 417 lesions. The histologic findings
Characterization of breast cancer molecular subtypes has been the standard of care for breast cancer management. We aimed to provide a review of imaging features of breast cancer molecular subtypes for the field of precision medicine. We also provide an update on the recent progress in precision medicine for breast cancer, implications for imaging, and recent observations in longitudinal functional imaging with radiomics.
