15This paper proposes a hybrid energy system, which consists of a diesel-engine generator and a supercapacitor, for improving performance of a rubber tyred gantry crane (RTGC). The supercapacitor contributes to the energy recovery associated with regenerative braking in "Hoist-Down" braking operation and to the rapid energy consumption related with acceleration in "Hoist-Up" operation of the RTGC. Hence, it does save energy which is conventionally wasted by a braking resistor. Moreover, the large
The purpose of this paper is to improve the management of cables that need much time and work in the measurement environment that has many multichannel cables. Therefore, a monitoring system that inspects faults and connection states of multichannel cables is suggested and designed. The system is based on time-domain reflectometry (TDR) and has two features that distinguish it from the precedent researches. One of them is a hardware interface for the multipair cable, which is a channel distribut
A pulsed-latch is an ideal sequencing element for low-power ASIC designs due to its smaller capacitance and simple timing model. Clock gating of pulsed-latch circuits can be realized by gating a pulse generator (or pulser), which we call pulser gating. The problem of pulser gating synthesis is formulated for the first time. Given a gate-level netlist with location of latches, we first extract the gating function of each latch; the gating functions are merged to reduce the amount of extra logic w

This article proposes a Rogowski switch-current sensor (RSCS) with the offset compensation for the current control of the three-phase SiC inverter. The RSCS is built into the four-layer print circuit board (PCB) gate drive board. The coil parameters are analyzed with the Ansys software (Maxwell and Q3D) and then compared with the measurement results. The analog signal processing circuits are implemented with the operational amplifier (op amp) to reconstruct the switch current and the phase curre
Amorphous InGaZnO junctionless thin-film transistors (a-IGZO JL-TFTs) with different active layer thicknesses and thermal treatments were fabricated. The unique feature of a-IGZO JL-TFTs is that all of the active layer and source/drain (S/D) electrodes are realized by the deposition of the InGaZnO thin film. A quantitative analysis to completely deplete the active layer when the device is turned OFF has been performed according to the active layer thickness. The impact of active layer thickness
This paper proposes a simplified method to minimize the effects of the temperature variation on IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine) control in a real-time manner especially in vehicle traction applications. Nowadays, normally an IPMSM with a rare-earth magnet is used for HEV traction applications. But because the flux density of the magnet varies with temperature, the optimal operating points, such as MTPA (Maximum Torque Per Ampere) and MTPV (Maximum Torque Per Voltage) of the
Cholesterol is one of major components of cell membrane and plays a role in vesicular trafficking and cellular signaling. We investigated the effects of cholesterol on matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) activation in human dermal fibroblasts. We found that tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) expression and active form MMP-2 (64 kD) were dose-dependently increased by methyl-β-cyclodextrin (MβCD), a cholesterol depletion agent. In contrast, cholesterol depletion-induced TIMP-2
This paper proposes an offset compensation method of the switching current sensor for the current control of the three-phase SiC inverter. Switching current sensors with Rogowski coils, which have analog signal processing circuits implemented with the operational amplifier (op amp), are integrated into the four-layer PCB gate drive board; in the end, the phase currents are reconstructed with the op amp subtractor. To eliminate the op amp offset voltage and bias current effect on the sensor outpu
This paper presents a method to reduce the current ripple of the dc link capacitor for the 48V inverter integrated starter and generator. A 48V belt-driven starter-generator with the integrated inverter has a limited space for the inverter. And about 20% of the inverter material cost is from the dc link capacitor. For size and cost reduction of the capacitor, it is important to reduce the ripple current in the dc link. Firstly, this paper applied a six-phase inverter in which two paralleled thre
This paper proposes a stray inductance-based current sensing method with a method to reduce the temperature-dependent DCR effect on the sensing accuracy. In the power module, there are a Kelvin pin and a power source pin which can be used to measure the switching current in the power loop. The voltage drop between these two pins has the information of the current, R*i and the current change, L*di/dt. This paper proposes a method to measure the switching current with the function of removing the
