Recent investigations suggest genetic susceptibility of allopurinol-induced severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs). However, the strength of association was variable according to phenotypes and ethnic backgrounds. To explore genetic markers for allopurinol-induced SCARs in Koreans, we genotyped human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I alleles of 25 cases of allopurinol-induced SCARs (20 cases of drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome and five cases of Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal ne

Machine learning-based design strategy for 3D printable bioink: elastic modulus and yield stress determine printability

SJR Q1FWCI 6.4Biofabrication

Although three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting technology is rapidly developing, the design strategies for biocompatible 3D-printable bioinks remain a challenge. In this study, we developed a machine learning-based method to design 3D-printable bioink using a model system with naturally derived biomaterials. First, we demonstrated that atelocollagen (AC) has desirable physical properties for printing compared to native collagen (NC). AC gel exhibited weakly elastic and temperature-responsive revers

Public Debt, Corruption and Sustainable Economic Growth

SJR Q1FWCI 18.6SustainabilityOA

There are many studies that look into the relationship between public debt and economic growth. It is hard to find, however, research addressing the role of corruption between these two variables. Noticing this vacancy in current literature, we strive to investigate the effect of corruption on the relationship between public debt and economic growth. For this purpose, the pooled ordinary least squares (OLS), fixed effects models and the dynamic panel generalized method of moments (GMM) models (A

These findings suggest that genetic polymorphisms in PTGER2, PTGER3, PTGER4, PTGIR, and TBXA2R play important roles in the pathogenesis of aspirin-intolerant asthma.

This highlights the potential of our 3D cardiac microtissues as a valuable tool for manifesting and evaluating the pro-fibrotic effects of various agents, thereby representing an important step forward towards an in vitro system for the prediction of drug-induced cardiac fibrosis and the study of the pathological changes in human cardiac fibrosis.

Genetic Polymorphisms of Drug-Metabolizing Enzymes and Anti-TB Drug-Induced Hepatitis

These findings suggest that genetic variants in the promoter and exons of NAT2 increase the risk of anti-TB drug-induced hepatitis by modifying acetylation phenotypes and/or gene expression of NAT2, and there is no essential role for genetic mutation of the other metabolizing enzymes in the development of this adverse reaction.

Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein RBD Antibody Levels After Receiving a Second Dose of ChAdOx1 nCov-19 (AZD1222) Vaccine in Healthcare Workers: Lack of Association With Age, Sex, Obesity, and Adverse Reactions

Response to vaccines generally varies according to individual factors of the vaccinated subjects such as demographics and immune status. While there are various reports of factors associated with immunogenicity of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, little is known about those of adenovirus vector vaccines. We conducted a prospective observational study to assess the relationships of antibody level with age, sex, body mass index (BMI), and adverse reactions (ARs) to an adenovirus vector vaccine, ChAdOx1 nCo

Fabrication of a new tubular fibrous PLCL scaffold for vascular tissue engineering

SJR Q2FWCI 1.6Journal of Biomaterials Science Polymer Edition

Biodegradable macroporous scaffolds have been developed for tissue-engineering applications. We fabricated and characterized a new tubular, macroporous, fibrous scaffold using a very elastic biodegradable co-polymer, poly(L-lactide-co-caprolactone) (PLCL, 5:5) in a gel-spinning process. A viscous PLCL solution was spun as a gel-phase under swirl-flow conditions and was subsequently fabricated to produce a tubular fibrous scaffold on a rotating cylindrical shaft in a methanol solution. The porosi

Regulation of cell adhesion signaling by synthetic glycopolymer matrix in primary cultured hepatocyte

SJR Q1FWCI 0.6FEBS Letters

Control of cell-matrix interactions is a central principle for the design of biomaterial in tissue engineering. In this study, we evaluated a synthetic glycopolymer, which is recognized by the asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR) expressed on the surface of hepatocytes, as an artificial matrix to regulate integrin-mediated signaling. The phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase was restricted in hepatocytes cultured on the glycopolymer compared with fibronectin. In addition, there was no reorgani

Nanofibers have been applied to tissue engineering scaffolds because fiber diameters are of the same scale as the physical structure of protein fibrils in the native extracellular matrix. In this study, we utilized cell matrix engineering combined with cell sheet matrix and electrospinning technologies. We studied small-diameter vascular grafts in vitro by seeding smooth muscle cells onto electrospun poly(lactide-co-ɛ-caprolactone) (PLCL) scaffolds, culturing and constructing a three-dimensional
