15Recently, imaging of prostate cancer has greatly advanced since the introduction of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI). mpMRI consists of T2-weighted sequences combined with several functional sequences including diffusion-weighted imaging, dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging, and/or magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging. Interest has been growing in mpMRI because no single MRI sequence adequately detects and characterizes prostate cancer. During the last decade, the role of mpMR
MetS and its components, particularly low HDL-C levels, were strongly correlated with an increased prevalence of BPH requiring treatment. In addition, moderate alcohol intake and elderly men from lower socioeconomic strata were associated with a decreased prevalence of BPH requiring treatment in our cohort.
The standard primary treatment for advanced prostate cancer has been hormonal therapy since the 1940s. However, prostate cancer inevitably progresses to castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) after a median duration of 18 months of androgen deprivation therapy. In patients with CRPC, docetaxel has been regarded as the standard treatment. However, survival advantages of docetaxel over other treatments are slim, and the need for new agents persists. In recent years, novel agents, including ab
URS-Bx is a significant risk factor for IVR in patients with renal pelvic tumor and should be performed after sufficient consideration in these patients if other examinations are uncertain.
This review systematically addresses the correlation between the microbiome and prostate cancer and explores its diagnostic and therapeutic implications. Recent research has indicated an association between the urinary and gut microbiome composition and prostate cancer incidence and progression. Specifically, the urinary microbiome is a potential non-invasive biomarker for early detection and risk evaluation, with altered microbial profiles in prostate cancer patients. This represents an advance
Vitamin D deficiency in men with LUTS may play a role in aggravated overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms, especially in winter. Increasing vitamin D level in patients with vitamin D deficiency appears to alleviate OAB symptoms.
Elevated serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were negatively associated with BPH incidence. In addition, maintaining high-density lipoprotein greater than or equal to 60 mg/dL was associated with a decreased BPH incidence compared with high-density lipoprotein less than 40 mg/dL, especially in men in their 40s.
This study aimed to determine patients with T1b renal cell carcinoma (RCC) who could benefit from partial nephrectomy (PN) and method to identify them preoperatively using nephrometry score (NS). From a total of 483 radical nephrectomy (RN)-treated patients and 40 PN-treated patients who received treatment for T1b RCC between 1995 and 2010, 120 patients identified through 1:2 propensity-score matching were included for analysis. Probability of chronic kidney disease (CKD) until postoperative 5-y
