15DWI on 3T MR imaging may be a promising technique for helping to predict and monitor the treatment response to neoadjuvant CRT in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer.
Few exercise interventions practice both gait and balance tasks with cognitive tasks to improve functional mobility in people with PD. We aimed to investigate whether the Agility Boot Camp with Cognitive Challenge (ABC-C), that simultaneously targets both mobility and cognitive function, improves dynamic balance and dual-task gait in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD). We used a cross-over, single-blind, randomized controlled trial to determine efficacy of the exercise intervention. Eight
Objective: Dysphagia is one of the important determinants of the prognosis for various diseases. Clinical dysphagia scale (CDS) was developed to screen dysphagia after stroke. We aimed to reevaluate this scale with comparison to the videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS) findings. Method: Retrospective chart reviews were completed on 677 dysphagic patients undergoing the VFSS from July 2000 to January 2004. CDS was evaluated by a physiatrist before the VFSS. Functional dysphagia scale, new VF
With rapid aging, the number of stroke survivors with disabilities in Korea is increasing even if mortality is declining. Despite coordinated efforts for quality improvement of stroke rehabilitation in Korea, the statistics of stroke rehabilitation were not well reported. This review aimed to provide contemporary and comprehensive statistics and recent changes in stroke rehabilitation in Korea. The Clinical Practice Guideline for Stroke Rehabilitation in Korea was developed in 2009 and updated i

Low bone mineral density (BMD) is an emerging health issue in adults with cerebral palsy (CP). This cross-sectional study aimed to describe the characteristics of BMD in adults with CP, and to elucidate the risk factors for low BMD in this population. People aged ≥20 years and diagnosed with CP were recruited from February 2014 to November 2014. We assessed BMD using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) for the lumbar spine, femoral neck, and total femur. Moreover, the body composition was ass
Objective: Fat distribution has increasingly been acknowledged as a more significant health parameter than general obesity, in terms of the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). We aimed to investigate the regional fat distribution pattern and general body fat characteristics of adults with cerebral palsy (CP), and we explored the risk of CVD in this population. Methods: People aged ≥20 years who were diagnosed with CP were recruited between February 2014 and November 2014. The sub
The accuracy and safety of the swallowing studies do not rely on the order of test diets.
Integrity of the ipsilesional corticospinal pathway, normalized contralesional intracortical excitability, and task-related activation in the ipsilesional hemisphere were found to predict post-stroke motor recovery significantly.
Korean patients with brain disorders showed significantly prolonged LOS and repeated admissions. Factors increasing burden of care influenced LOS significantly.
We report a boy affected by both congenital myotonic dystrophy (CDM) and cerebral palsy (CP). He was born preterm and suffered from recurrent respiratory distress and respiratory tract infections. He was diagnosed with spastic diplegic CP. During the follow-up, long faces that lacked expression with a drooping mouth, of him and his mother, led to a detailed diagnostic evaluation. His electrodiagnostic testing demonstrated myotonic discharges. Molecular genetic tests revealed that the boy had 124
