Frequency-Reconfigurable Antenna Inspired by Origami Flasher
Sukwon Lee, Syed Imran Hussain Shah, Han Lim Lee, Sungjoon Lim
SJR Q1FWCI 2.5IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters

This letter proposes a frequency-reconfigurable dipole antenna using an origami flasher. The dipole antenna is designed on flat paper in the unfolded state, and the paper can then be folded into a cube inspired by the origami flasher. Dipole length is extended in the folded state due to the patch pole, which acts as a dummy in the unfolded state. The proposed origami antenna can switch resonance frequency from 1.23 to 0.77 GHz by folding the paper. Measured return losses are 11.6 and 13.9 dB, pe

It is generally believed that after memory consolidation, memory-encoding synaptic circuits are persistently modified and become less plastic. This, however, may hinder the remaining capacity of information storage in a given neural circuit. Here we consider the hypothesis that memory-encoding synaptic circuits still retain reversible plasticity even after memory consolidation. To test this, we employed a protocol of auditory fear conditioning which recruited the vast majority of the thalamic in

Fusion Poser: 3D Human Pose Estimation Using Sparse IMUs and Head Trackers in Real Time
Meejin Kim, Sukwon Lee
SJR Q1FWCI 2.4SensorsOA

The motion capture method using sparse inertial sensors is an approach for solving the occlusion and economic problems in vision-based methods, which is suitable for virtual reality applications and works in complex environments. However, VR applications need to track the location of the user in real-world space, which is hard to obtain using only inertial sensors. In this paper, we present Fusion Poser, which combines the deep learning-based pose estimation and location tracking method with six

Eye-Hand Span is not an Indicator of but a Strategy for Proficient Sight-Reading in Piano Performance

SJR Q1FWCI 13.3Scientific ReportsOA

Eye-hand span, i.e., the distance between a performer's fixation and execution of a note, has been regarded as a decisive indicator of performers' competence in sight-reading. However, integrated perspectives regarding the relationship between eye-hand span and sight-reading variables have been less discussed. The present study explored the process of sight-reading in terms of three domains and their interrelations. The domain indicators included musical complexity and playing tempo (musical dom

The impact of environmental factors during maternal separation on the behaviors of adolescent C57BL/6 mice
Sangyep Shin, Sukwon Lee
SJR Q2FWCI 6.3Frontiers in Molecular NeuroscienceOA

Neonatal maternal separation is a widely used method to construct an early-life stress model in rodents. In this method, pups are separated from their mothers for several hours every day during the first 2 weeks of life, which results in adverse early-life events. It is a known fact that maternal separation can exert a significant impact on the behavior and psychological health, such as anxiety and depression, in adolescent offspring. However, environmental conditions during maternal separation

Sound tuning of amygdala plasticity in auditory fear conditioning

SJR Q1FWCI 1.8Scientific ReportsOA

Various auditory tones have been used as conditioned stimuli (CS) for fear conditioning, but researchers have largely neglected the effect that different types of auditory tones may have on fear memory processing. Here, we report that at lateral amygdala (LA) synapses (a storage site for fear memory), conditioning with different types of auditory CSs (2.8 kHz tone, white noise, FM tone) recruits distinct forms of long-term potentiation (LTP) and inserts calcium permeable AMPA receptor (CP-AMPAR)

SJR Q2FWCI 1.7Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics

Abstract The fabrication of flexible surfaces with a combination of ultrahydrophobic and hydrophilic properties at alternating locations by UV NIL is reported. A new method for master fabrication based on nanoimprinting combined with photolithography is described. The master is used for a double replica technique to imprint nanopillars atop microstripes on a plastic substrate. Selective wetting is achieved due to ultrahydrophobic nanopatterned regions with 126° WCA and hydrophilic flat regions w

Modulation of fear memory by retrieval and extinction: a clue for memory deconsolidation
Ingie Hong, Jeongyeon Kim, Beomjong Song, Sungmo Park, Junuk Lee, Jihye Kim, Bobae An, Sukwon Lee, Sukwoo Choi
SJR Q1FWCI 0.5Reviews in the Neurosciences

Memories are fragile and easily forgotten at first, but after a consolidation period of hours to weeks, are inscribed in our brains as stable traces, no longer vulnerable to conventional amnesic treatments. Retrieval of a memory renders it labile, akin to the early stages of consolidation. This phenomenon has been explored as memory reactivation, in the sense that the memory is temporarily 'deconsolidated', allowing a short time window for amnesic intervention. This window closes again after rec
