연구실 소개
정성진 교수 연구실은 노인성 배뇨장애, 특히 하부요로증후군(LUTS)의 병태생리학적 기전을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 남성과 여성의 요도 기능 장애(DU) 진단 기준의 정합성과 임상 적용 가능성을 검토하며, 요도역류, 요동역류, 요도압력 측정 등 다양한 유도진단 기법을 기반으로 한 정밀한 진단 기반 마련을 추구합니다. 또한 전립선암 치료 후 요실금 회복 요인 분석과 PSA 검사의 비만에 따른 해석 전략 개선 등 임상적 실용성을 고려한 연구를 지속하고 있습니다.

15DU was a common mechanism underlying LUTS in the elderly population, especially in men. One half of the men and three quarters of the women with DU also had other pathologies such as DO, BOO, or USUI.
A Korean version of the OABSS was developed and linguistic validation was performed. Further studies are needed to assess the reproducibility and validity of the questionnaire in Korean populations.
VUAL represents an independent predictor of recovery of UC after RP. A higher VUAL is associated with a higher rate of early recovery of UC.
Each urodynamic criterion for men does not coincide with each other in the diagnosis of DU within individual subjects. On the other hand, PdetQmax 30 criteria and BVE criteria for women could be appropriately applied to clinical practice when diagnosing DU in women with LUTS.
The accuracy of PSA in predicting prostate cancer did not change regardless of BMI category in Asian men. However, as patients with higher BMIs had lower PSA levels than those with lower BMIs, it can therefore be suggested that the PSA threshold should be lower in obese men to discriminate between prostate cancer and benign conditions in the real clinical situation.
Compared with factors related to the prostate or membranous urethra, patient age and severity of incontinence at 1 year after radical prostatectomy are more strongly related to the recovery of urinary continence later than 1 year after surgery. These findings might help to decide whether a definite treatment is required for persistent incontinence beyond 1 year after radical prostatectomy.
BMI was not independently associated with failures in either approach. Higher success rates in women with lower BMI in the transobturator approach were attributed to the lower percent of preoperative MUI in those with lower BMI.
