박소연 교수의 연구실은 유방암의 이환 기전과 치료 내성 메커니즘을 밝히는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 특히 종양 내 유전자 이질성, 갈라진 세포 계통의 역할, 암세포의 다형성 및 미세환경 상호작용(예: 종양 관련 마크로파지)을 중심으로 종양의 진행과 예후에 영향을 미치는 생물학적 요소를 탐구하고 있습니다. 또한 DNA 메틸화 변화와 같은 epigenetic 변화가 유방암의 악성 전환 과정에서 어떻게 작용하는지 분석하며, 임상적 예측 지표 개발에도 기여하고 있습니다.

Results suggest that an increase of HER-2 gene copy number secondary to polysomy 17 leads to HER-2 overexpression in some IHC 2+/3+ breast cancers, without gene amplification.
