최성희 교수의 연구실은 대사질환과 심혈관 질환의 분자 기전을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 특히 당뇨병, 대사증후군, 골다공로시스 및 동맥경화증과 관련된 생물학적 마커와 유전자 조절 메커니즘을 연구하며, FGF21, vaspin, A1C 등의 생체지표가 대사 및 심혈관계 질환의 발달에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 있습니다. 또한 세균의 생체광학 조절 메커니즘을 연구한 기초 생물학적 연구 경험이 바탕이 되어, 질병의 분자 기전을 통합적으로 접근하고 있습니다.

15Increased CCS and subclinical atherosclerosis of plaque burdens as revealed by MDCT was associated with a low BMD in all women, independent of cardiovascular risk factors and age.
Higher plasma vaspin concentrations are significantly associated with metabolic syndrome in men. In women, vaspin concentrations are associated with coronary atherosclerosis. Further studies regarding the role of vaspin in the pathogenesis of obesity and atherosclerosis are required.
