Queen-bee evolution for genetic algorithms
Sung Hoon Jung
SJR Q3FWCI 6.6Electronics Letters

A new evolution method called queen-bee evolution is proposed for enhancing the optimisation capability of genetic algorithms. This queen-bee evolution is similar to nature in that the queen-bee plays a major role in reproduction process. Experimental results with typical problems show that queen-bee evolution makes genetic algorithms quickly approach the global optimum by enhancing exploitation and exploration of genetic algorithms.

COI barcoding of true bugs (Insecta, Heteroptera)

SJR Q1FWCI 9.0Molecular Ecology Resources

Several recent studies have proposed that partial DNA sequences of the cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) mitochondrial gene might serve as DNA barcodes for identifying and differentiating between animal species, such as birds, fish and insects. In this study, we tested the effectiveness of a COI barcode to identify true bugs from 139 species collected from Korea and adjacent regions (Japan, Northeastern China and Fareast Russia). All the species had a unique COI barcode sequence except for the genus

Molecular phylogeny of the plant bugs (Heteroptera: Miridae) and the evolution of feeding habits
Sunghoon Jung, Seunghwan Lee
SJR Q1FWCI 7.5Cladistics

The first comprehensive cladistic analysis of Miridae, the plant bugs, is presented based on analysis of 3935 base pairs of mitochondrial (16S, COI) and nuclear (18S, 28SD3) DNA for 91 taxa in seven subfamilies. Data were analysed using maximum likelihood (ML), parsimony and Bayesian inference (BI) phylogenetic frameworks. The phylogenetic results are compared with previous hypotheses of higher relationships in the family using alternative hypothesis tests. A Bayesian relaxed molecular clock is

Insect distribution in response to climate change based on a model: Review of function and use of CLIMEX

SJR Q3FWCI 5.6Entomological Research

Abstract The significant dependence of agricultural productivity on pest control requires pest distribution predictions at an early stage of pest invasion. Because pest cycles are critically affected by climate, climate is one of the most important factors for predicting an invasive pest. CLIMEX is a highly effective tool that can predict potential geographical species distributions, and test the regional suitability for a target species' habitat based on data including climate change scenarios.

SJR Q1FWCI 2.2AgronomyOA

This study evaluated the potential distribution of the potato tuber moth. This species severely impacts global potato production, especially in China and India, which have the world’s largest potato production. We developed two indices considering host plant availability and production in addition to climatic suitability, which was simulated using the CLIMEX model. Thus, three different indices were used to project potential distribution of the potato tuber moth under a climate change scenario:

Prediction of global geographic distribution of Metcalfa pruinosa using CLIMEX

SJR Q3FWCI 1.4Entomological Research

Abstract Globalization has changed the habitats of various species, resulting in harmful pest invasion. Among these pests, Metcalfa pruinosa has caused worldwide economic and hygienic damage in both urban and agricultural/forested areas. It has been reported that prediction of pest distribution is key to the management of pest prevention. Hence, this study aimed to predict the potential geographic distribution of M . pruinosa under the current climate and under a climate change scenario. CLIMEX,

Phylogeny of the plant bug subfamily Mirinae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Cimicomorpha: Miridae) based on total evidence analysis

SJR Q1FWCI 3.2Systematic Entomology

Abstract The first comprehensive phylogenetic analyses of the most diverse subfamily of plant bugs, Mirinae, is presented in this study, for 110 representative taxa based on total evidence analysis. A total of 85 morphological characters and 3898 bp of mitochondrial (16S, COI) and nuclear (18S, 28S) sequences were analysed for each partitioned and combined dataset based on parsimony, maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference. Major results obtained in this study include monophyly of the tribe Me

Correlated evolution and Bayesian divergence time estimates of the Cimicoidea (Heteroptera: Cimicomorpha) reveal the evolutionary history
Sunghoon Jung, Seunghwan Lee
SJR Q1FWCI 2.9Systematic EntomologyOA

The diverse habitat types and discrete morphological characters of cimicoid species provide a unique opportunity to study correlated evolution. Phylogenetic relationships within Cimicoidea were determined using Bayesian analyses of molecular data, allowing the generation of testable hypotheses of correlated evolution. An investigation of the correlation between habitat selection and morphological characters revealed that a dead plant habitat was correlated with the filiform antennal type. Furthe

The world society of 21st century started with the mega-terrorism and the so-called ‘just’ war. But just war has broken the international law. In Asia, the constitutional court of Korea judged the political decision for the shift of administrative capital as illegal, but this judge has disregarded the positive constitutional law of Korea. I regard these cases and another cases which occur in several regions of world society as the symptom of law being undermined(das Unterminiertwerden des Rechts

SJR Q1FWCI 3.0ICT ExpressOA

Wireless relaying in cellular networks has attracted considerable attention because of its capability of extending coverage and improving transmission reliability. The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) had standardized the relaying functionality in Release 10. In Release 13, the concept of relaying has been evolved to combine it with device-to-device communications for extending network coverage further. In this paper, a state-of-the-art 3GPP relay technology called the UE-to-Network r

Abstract Previous phylogenetic studies of the tribe Synergini were focused on Palaearctic material, in which the genus Synergus was recovered as monophyletic, despite evidence of non-monophyly when global sampling is considered. A global molecular phylogeny of Synergini, including sequenced material from Nearctic and Neotropical realms, is presented herein for the first time. We assembled DNA data for 120 specimens: 104 representing all genera belonging to Synergini, except for the rare monospec
