연구실 소개
김태용 교수의 연구실은 갑상선암, 특히 분화형 갑상선암의 예후 및 진단에 중점을 두고 있으며, BRAF(V600E) 돌연변이와 thyroglobulin 수치의 임상적 의미를 규명하는 데 주력하고 있습니다. 특히 수술 후 추적 관찰에서의 생물학적 마커와 PET-CT 영상 소견이 질병 재발 예측에 어떻게 기여하는지에 대한 연구를 지속하고 있습니다. 또한 갑상선 전이성 종양, 특히 유방암에서 옮아온 갑상선 전이의 진단 및 임상적 특성에 대해서도 깊이 있는 분석을 수행하고 있습니다.

Thyroid metastases are uncommon but can be detected more frequently with routine use of FNAB. Breast cancer is the most common tumour that metastasizes to the thyroid. They usually occur when there are metastases elsewhere, sometimes many years after the diagnosis of the original primary tumour and show poor prognosis in general.

Recent advance in sequencing technology has enabled comprehensive profiling of genetic alterations in cancer. We have established a targeted sequencing platform using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology for clinical use, which can provide mutation and copy number variation data. PTMC showed very diverse disease extent and could not be regarded as indolent, relatively benign disease based on the primary tumor size. The extent of surgery should be based on prognostic parameters, such as gender and lateral neck node metastasis, in patients with PTMC.

The aim of the present study was to examine a C/T polymorphism in the 5'-untranslated region of the CD40 gene and its relationship with autoimmune thyroid diseases in Koreans. The C/T polymorphism in the 5'-untranslated region of CD40 gene, clinical characteristics, and thyroid antibodies were analyzed in a series of Korean patients (132 with Graves' disease, 118 with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and 164 normal controls).
