연구실 소개

신채원 교수의 연구실은 파킨슨병과 뇌신경질환의 신경생물학적 기전을 이해하고자, 장내 미생물군집, 신경전도계 이상, 단백질 축적(특히 알파-시뉴클레인)의 위장관계를 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 파킨슨병 환자의 장내 미생물 변화와 단쇄지방산 농도의 상관관계, 이환자의 비운동성 증상(NMS)과 뇌 영상 소견 간의 연관성에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 이는 조기 진단 및 개인 맞춤형 치료 전략 개발에 기여하고자 합니다. 또한, 한국 및 아시아 인구를 대상으로 한 임상-유전학적 분석을 통해 지역 특화된 뇌질환 연구를 선도하고 있습니다.

Plasma short-chain fatty acids were paradoxically increased in PD and were associated with disease severity and antiparkinsonian medications. The study demonstrated that the NMS burdens are not associated with iron accumulation in the deep nuclei of patients with PD. These results suggest that future neuroimaging studies on the pathology of NMSs in PD should use more specific and detailed clinical tools and recruit PD patients with severe NMSs.
