15Wound healing is a recovering process of damaged tissues by replacing dysfunctional injured cellular structures. Natural compounds for wound treatment have been widely used for centuries. Numerous published works provided reviews of natural compounds for wound healing applications, which separated the approaches based on different categories such as characteristics, bioactivities, and modes of action. However, current studies provide reviews of natural compounds that originated from only plants
Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is an uncommon type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), as well as one of the subtypes of T cell lymphoma, accounting for 1 to 3% of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas and around 15% of T cell lymphomas. In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified anaplastic large cell lymphoma into four categories: ALK-positive ALCL (ALK+ALCL), ALK-negative ALCL (ALK-ALCL), primary cutaneous ALCL (pcALCL), and breast-implant-associated ALCL (BIA-ALCL), respectively. Clinical
A surgical suture is a medical device to close the wound site of skin and organs but excessive inflammation surrounding the suture can disrupt the wound healing process. Although post-operative prescription of anti-inflammatory drugs is used to manage the inflammation, the need for local drug delivery systems has been rising because of low bioavailability and fast clearance of drugs. In this work, we proposed a new strategy for a local anti-inflammatory device by incorporating macrophage-targete
Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a rare, non-hereditary skeletal disorder characterized by its chronic course of non-neoplastic fibrous tissue buildup in place of healthy bone. A myriad of factors have been associated with its onset and progression. Perturbation of cell-cell signaling networks and response outputs leading to disrupted building blocks, incoherent multi-level organization, and loss of rigid structural motifs in mineralized tissues are factors that have been identified to participate in F
Hydrocolloid dressings are an important method for accelerating wound healing. A combination of a hydrocolloid and nanoparticles (NPs), such as gold (Au), improves the wound healing rate, but Au-NPs are expensive and unable to block ultraviolet (UV) light. Herein, we combined zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) with hydrocolloids for a less expensive and more effective UV-blocking treatment of wounds. Using Sprague-Dawley rat models, we showed that, during 10-day treatment, a hydrocolloid patch c
The new PCL thread exhibited a superior skin rejuvenation effect. This suggests that the material processing technology can be applied not only to the thread but also to various products such as dermal filler and cosmetics.
Various substances, including collagen (Naticol®) and ascorbic acid, that inhibit and prevent skin aging have been studied. Collagen prevents skin aging, has anti-inflammatory effects, and assists in normal wound healing. Ascorbic acid is a representative antioxidant that plays a role in collagen synthesis. To achieve a synergistic effect of collagen and ascorbic acid on all skin types, we prepared a product named "TEENIALL." In addition, we used a container to separate ascorbic acid and collage
In this study, we investigated the efficacy and safety of the recently developed modifiable bioabsorbable plates and screws, which are made of PLGA [poly(lactic-co-glycolic acids)]. An in vitro extract test and a mammalian erythrocyte micronucleus test revealed that neither cytotoxicity nor genotoxicity was observed with the plates and screws tested in this study. An in vivo mandible fracture model in rabbit was introduced to evaluate the in vivo efficacy and of the PLGA-based plates and screws.
The number of breast reconstruction surgeries has been increasing due to the increase in mastectomies. Surgical implants (the standard polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) implants) are widely used to reconstruct breast tissues, however, it can cause problems such as adverse immune reactions, fibrosis, rupture, and additional surgery. Hence, polymeric fillers have recently garnered increasing attention as strong alternatives for breast reconstruction materials. Polymeric fillers offer noninvasive methods
