최창용 교수의 연구실은 한국과 근접한 생태계 변화의 중심인 동아시아 지역을 중심으로, 이주성 조류의 서식지 변화, 생물의 이동과 종 보존, 그리고 환경 오염의 생태적 영향을 다룹니다. 특히 조류를 통한 종자 확산, 미세플라스틱의 생태계 영향, 기후 변화와 인간 활동이 생물 다양성에 미치는 영향을 종합적으로 연구하고 있습니다. 또한 북한 이주자들의 일상적 생존 전략을 분석함으로써 사회적·정치적 맥락 속에서의 생태적 상호작용를 탐구하는 독특한 융합 연구도 진행 중입니다.

Microplastics (< 5 mm) have been found in marine ecosystems worldwide, even in Antarctic ecosystems.
