연구실 소개
최의근 교수 연구실은 심혈관 질환의 발생 메커니즘과 예방 전략을 실생활 데이터 기반으로 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 한국 national health information database를 활용한 대규모 관찰 연구를 통해 심부전, 심근경색, 뇌졸중 등 주요 심혈관계 합병증의 유병률과 위험 인자를 분석하고 있으며, 특히 치아 결손과 심혈관 질환 간의 연관성, 암 환자에서의 심방세동 발생 위험, 그리고 파라시스톨릭 심방세동의 전기적 기전에 대한 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 최근에는 스마트폰 기반의 광체적도 측정(PPG) 데이터를 활용한 심방세동 조기 탐지 기술 개발을 통해 실생활에서의 조기 진단 가능성을 높이고자 합니다.

There is a significant temporal relationship between ECNA and ICNA. However, ICNA can also activate alone. All paroxysmal atrial tachycardia and atrial fibrillation episodes were invariably preceded by ICNA. These findings suggest that ICNA (either alone or in collaboration with ECNA) is an invariable trigger of paroxysmal atrial tachyarrhythmias. ICNA might contaminate local atrial electrograms, resulting in complex fractionated atrial electrogram-like activity.
Patients with atrial fibrillation had a 4 times increased risk of mortality compared with the general population. However, the impact of atrial fibrillation on mortality decreased with age and in men. Cerebral infarction was the most common cause of death, and more attention should be paid to reducing the risk of stroke.

Between 2008 and 2015, a greater proportion of AF patients received OAC treatment with increasing NOAC prescription trends in the recent 3 years. A substantial proportion (approx. 50%) of Korean patients with AF still remain undertreated.
Cirrhosis was an independent risk factor for atrial fibrillation development, especially in younger, otherwise healthy men, stressing the importance of cardiac assessment in cirrhotic patients. Meanwhile, atrial fibrillation development in cirrhosis patients was not associated with increased mortality.
