김현영 교수의 연구실은 공기 오염이 뇌신경계에 미치는 영향과 신경질환 발생 메커니즘을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 특히 미세먼지가 유도하는 신경염증, 산화 스트레스, 마이크로그리아 활성화 등 신경세포 손상의 생물학적 기전을 연구하며, 이와 연계해 항산화 물질의 신경 보호 효과를 탐색하고 있습니다. 또한 통증 조절을 위한 세포 특이적 약물 전달 기법과 대사증후군, 당뇨 등 대사질환에서의 항산화 작용에 대한 기초 연구도 진행하고 있습니다.
