SJR Q1FWCI 38.4Diabetes & Metabolism JournalOA

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus among Korean adults remained high. Only 9.7% of adults with diabetes mellitus achieved all glycemic, BP, and lipid controls from 2019 to 2020. Continuous evaluation of national diabetes statistics and a national effort to increase awareness of diabetes mellitus and improve comprehensive diabetes care are needed.

SJR Q1FWCI 8.1Scientific ReportsOA

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors on individual renal outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes. We searched MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials from inception to September 2017 to identify randomized controlled trials comparing SGLT2 inhibitors with placebo or antidiabetic drugs and reporting any renal outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, we identified 4 articles which

Asymmetric receptor contact is required for tyrosine autophosphorylation of fibroblast growth factor receptor in living cells

SJR Q1FWCI 2.3Proceedings of the National Academy of SciencesOA

Tyrosine autophosphorylation of receptor tyrosine kinases plays a critical role in regulation of kinase activity and in recruitment and activation of intracellular signaling pathways. Autophosphorylation is mediated by a sequential and precisely ordered intermolecular (trans) reaction. In this report we present structural and biochemical experiments demonstrating that formation of an asymmetric dimer between activated FGFR1 kinase domains is required for transphosphorylation of FGFR1 in FGF-stim

SJR Q2FWCI 1.0Journal of Korean Medical ScienceOA

This study was conducted to review the clinical characteristics of parathyroid carcinoma (PC) and to evaluate potential preoperative predictive factors for PC in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). We performed a retrospective review of electronic medical records of 194 patients with pathologically confirmed PHPT in affiliated teaching hospitals of Seoul National University from January 2000 to March 2011. Adenoma was diagnosed in 171 patients, hyperplasia in 12, and carcinoma in 1

The Potential Cardiometabolic Effects of Long-Chain ω-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids: Recent Updates and Controversies
Jae Hyun Bae, Hyunjung Lim, Soo Lim
SJR Q1FWCI 9.5Advances in NutritionOA

Various health-related effects of long-chain (LC) ω-3 PUFAs, EPA, and DHA have been suggested. LC ω-3 PUFAs reduce TG concentrations and have anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antiplatelet, and vascular protective effects. Controversially, they might help in restoring glucose homeostasis via the gut microbiota. However, previous studies have not shown the clear benefits of LC ω-3 PUFAs for CVDs. REDUCE-IT and STRENGTH-representative randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that examined whether LC

Postprandial glucose‐lowering effect of premeal consumption of protein‐enriched, dietary fiber‐fortified bar in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus or normal glucose tolerance
Jae Hyun Bae, Lee-Kyung Kim, Se-Hee Min, Chang Ho Ahn, Young Min Cho
SJR Q1FWCI 2.6Journal of Diabetes InvestigationOA

Acute administration of premeal PFB decreased postprandial glucose excursion in both type 2 diabetes mellitus and NGT participants. In the type 2 diabetes mellitus participants, premeal PFB augmented the early-phase insulin secretion, possibly through enhancing glucagon-like peptide-1 secretion.

SGLT2 Inhibitors and GLP-1 Receptor Agonists in Diabetic Kidney Disease: Evolving Evidence and Clinical Application
Jae Hyun Bae
SJR Q1FWCI 37.6Diabetes & Metabolism JournalOA

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a leading cause of end-stage kidney disease and significantly increases cardiovascular risk and mortality. Despite conventional therapies, including renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors, substantial residual risk remains. The emergence of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists has reshaped DKD management. Beyond glycemic control, these agents provide distinct and complementary cardiorenal

Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonist Differentially Affects Brain Activation in Response to Visual Food Cues in Lean and Obese Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Jae Hyun Bae, Hyung Jin Choi, Kang Ik Kevin Cho, Lee-Kyung Kim, Jun Soo Kwon, Young Min Cho
SJR Q1FWCI 0.3Diabetes & Metabolism JournalOA

Brain responses to visual food cues were different in lean and obese individuals with T2DM. In addition, acute administration of lixisenatide differentially affected functional brain activation in these individuals, especially in those who decreased their caloric intake after lixisenatide injection.
