15The morphology and electronic structure of a Li4Ti5O12 anode are known to determine its electrical and electrochemical properties in lithium rechargeable batteries. Ag-Li4Ti5O12 nanofibers have been rationally designed and synthesized by an electrospinning technique to meet the requirements of one-dimensional (1D) morphology and superior electrical conductivity. Herein, we have found that the 1D Ag-Li4Ti5O12 nanofibers show enhanced specific capacity, rate capability, and cycling stability compa
The morphology and electronic structure of metal oxides, including TiO(2) on the nanoscale, definitely determine their electronic or electrochemical properties, especially those relevant to application in energy devices. For this purpose, a concept for controlling the morphology and electrical conductivity in TiO(2), based on tuning by electrospinning, is proposed. We found that the 1D TiO(2) nanofibers surprisingly gave higher cyclic retention than 0D nanopowder, and nitrogen doping in the form
It is a challenge to increase the visible-light photoresponses of wide-gap metal oxides. In this study, we proposed a new strategy to enhance the visible-light photoresponses of wide-gap semiconductors by deliberately designing a multi-scale nanostructure with controlled architecture. Hollow ZnO microspheres with constituent units in the shape of one-dimensional (1D) nanowire networks, 2D nanosheet stacks, and 3D mesoporous nanoball blocks are synthesized via an approach of two-step assembly, wh
To prove the credibility of empirical and theoretical claims about the ties between problem-based learning (PBL) and educational outcomes, this study investigates the role of PBL as a teaching model to enhance students’ learning activities and outcomes in South Sulawesi located in rural Indonesia. The study subjects included first graders at a junior high school who achieved lower levels academically than pupils in other regions. This study involved classroom activities conducted in two cycles,
Abstract This paper presents a quantitative account of vegetation–soil environmental factor relationships in the Wangsuk stream (WS) and the Gwarim reservoir (GR) in Korea. Vegetation and the following soil variables were investigated in May, August and October 2004: pH, conductivity, water content, organic matter, total nitrogen content, NH 4 –N content, PO 4 –P content, total Ca, Mg, K, and Na content, extractable Ca, Mg, K and Na content, soil texture, distance from the channel, and elevation
In this study, we developed an educational programme using soil seed banks to promote ecological literacy among primary school‐aged children. The programme consisted of seven student activities, including sampling and setting soil seed banks around the school, watering, identifying seedlings, and making observations about the plants and their environments. Research was conducted in two urban elementary schools in Seoul, Korea with 99 fourth‐grade students, who were divided into two experimental
