박경애 교수의 연구실은 해양 대기 상호작용과 해양 표면 온도 변화가 대기 경계층에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 군집류의 따뜻한 및 차가운 핵 래인, 해류와 해수면온도 기울기 등이 바람 속도와 기류 기울기에 미치는 영향을 위성 자료를 활용해 분석하고 있으며, 장기적인 해수면온도 변화 추세와 극단적 온도 이벤트의 빈도 변화도 다룹니다. 이는 기후 변화에 따른 해양 기상 현상의 이해를 심화하는 데 기여하고 있습니다.

The spatial pattern of sea surface temperature(SST) fronts and its seasonality are presented for the entire East(Japan) Sea. They are based on semi‐monthly sea surface temperature(SST) gradient maps constructed from declouded SST images over the period 1990–1995. Fronts in the East Sea can be assigned to the Subpolar Front (SPF) in its central sea areas and to other fronts along the continental shelves. Long-term trends of sea surface temperature (SST) of the East Sea (Sea of Japan, EJS) were estimated by using 37-year-long satellite data, for the observation period from 1982 to 2018.
