소매업은 업종마다 소비자의 연령대, 소득수준 등에 따라 주 고객층이 다르며,1) 이러한 개별적 특성을 가진 고객층들이 주로 찾는 업종이 많은 지역에 새로운 상권이 형성된다.2) 새로 창업을 준비하는 소매업 자영업자들에게 컨설팅서비스를 제공하는 업계에서는 이러한 현상에 초점을 두고 창업자가 창업하고자하는 지역의 상권특성, 창업하고자 하는 업종의 업종특성, 해당 업종의 고객층이 선호하는 유사 업종 정보 등 다양한 정보를 제공하고 있다. 이와 같이 소매업종별 고객층의 특성을 파악하고 이들의 소비패턴에 따른 점포의 입지와 관련된 정보들은 주로 신문기사나 일부 민간 업계의 보고서에서 제공하고 있지만, 이와 관련된 학계의 연구는 찾기 어려운 실정이다.3)소매업종 중 동일한 상품을 판매하는 동종 소매업종 점포의 입지요인과 이들의 군집패턴 등과 관련해서는 많은 연구가 이루어졌으나, 아직까지 이종 소매업종의 점포가 군집을 하는 이유와 어떤 업종끼리 군집을 하는지에 대해서는 상식선의 해석만 구구할 뿐

In this paper we compute the stopping times in the game Rock-Paper-Scissors. By exploiting the recurrence relation we compute the mean values of stopping times. On the other hand, by constructing a transition matrix for a Markov chain associated with the game, we get also the distribution of the stopping times and thereby we compute the mean stopping times again. Then we show that the mean stopping times increase exponentially fast as the number of the participants increases.
