Laccases are multicopper-containing oxidases that catalyze the oxidation of many aromatic compounds with concomitant reduction of oxygen to water. Interest in this enzyme has arisen in many fields of industry, including detoxification, wine stabilization, paper processing, and enzymatic conversion of chemical intermediates. In this study, we cloned a laccase gene (GLlac1) from the white-rot fungus Ganoderma lucidum. The cloned gene consists of 4,357 bp, with its coding region interrupted by nine

De-industrialization, re-industrialization, and the resurgence of state capitalism: The case of Indonesia
Kyunghoon Kim, Andy Sumner
FWCI 5.5Working Paper Series

Discussions on the developing world’s industrial policies have largely neglected the role of state-owned entities. This paper argues that the resurgence of state capitalism has been, in part, the response of developing countries to the recent pattern of structural transformation involving weak manufacturing. Using the case of Indonesia, this paper demonstrates that many middle-income countries have large and diverse state-owned entities in their development policy toolbox and have begun to exper

Is Structural Transformation-led Economic Growth Immiserizing or Inclusive? The Case of Indonesia
Kyunghoon Kim, Andy Sumner, Arief Anshory Yusuf
FWCI 23.0Oxford University Press eBooks

This chapter discusses the relationship between the recent pattern of structural transformation in the Indonesian economy and poverty reduction. In the past two decades, Indonesia has become a service-centred economy while its manufacturing sector has ceased to act as the driver of structural transformation. Further, the manufacturing sector’s capacity to generate employment and to lead productivity growth has deteriorated compared to that during the two decades prior to the Asian financial cris

Impact of Covid-19 on the Visit of Pediatric Patients with Injuries to the Emergency Department in Korea

SJR Q2FWCI 1.7ChildrenOA

The total number of pediatric emergency department (PED) visitors has decreased worldwide since the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. We hypothesized that this might also affect the number of PED visits due to injuries. Therefore, we investigated these changes in PED visits after the COVID-19 outbreak through a long-term multicenter observational study. We assessed the changes in the proportion of injured pediatric patients' weekly visits and the trend in the rate changes since the COVID-

The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to summarize the effects of early initiation and achievement of a high dose of parenteral lipids (≥1.5 g/kg/day reached within the first 24 h of birth) on growth and adverse outcomes in preterm infants. PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases were utilized to search for publications for this meta-analysis. Randomized controlled trials were eligible if data on growth or clinical outcome was available. The search returned nine studies. T

Cyclosporine A (CsA) is effective in treating moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD). This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to summarize the effectiveness and safety of low-dose (<4 mg/kg) versus high-dose (≥4 mg/kg) CsA and other systemic immunomodulatory agents in patients with AD. Five randomized controlled trials met the inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis included 159 patients with moderate-to-severe AD who were randomized to receive low-dose CsA, and 165 patients randomized t

A 1.3-mW, 1.6-GHz digital delay-locked loop with two-cycle locking time and dither-free tracking
Kyunghoon Kim, Seuk Son, Sigang Ryu, Hwanseok Yeo, Yunju Choi, Jaeha Kim
FWCI 1.4

An all-digital DLL with 2-cycle lock time and 47-mUIpp jitter without dithering is presented. Implemented in 65nm CMOS, the DLL consumes only 1.3-mW at 1.6-GHz and occupies 0.016-mm2, making it suitable for low-cost clock deskewing and data alignment circuits in large-scale 3D ICs. A set of custom-designed, serially-connected control registers whose propagation delay is matched to that of the delay stages acquires the initial lock setting by propagating a set signal for a duration equal to the d
