연구실 소개
김남주 교수의 연구실은 주로 안과적 질환, 특히 안구근육염, 안화성 종양(예: 복합성 피지선암), 그리고 안과 질환과 관련된 신호전달 경로의 기전을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 암의 진행성과 전이 메커니즘을 규명하기 위해 종양 간세포(비만세포)와 Shh, Wnt 신호 경로의 역할을 분석하며, 임상적 예후 예측 지표 개발에도 기여하고 있습니다. 또한 어린이의 안과 외상, 특히 궤도 골절과 연부조직 손상이 시기적 치료에 미치는 영향에 대해서도 임상 영상 자료를 기반으로 심층 분석을 수행하고 있습니다.

15Idiopathic orbital myositis showed variable degrees of ocular motility limitation, and limitation in the same direction of the action of the affected muscle was more frequent. Recurrent myositis was more likely to have multiple muscle involvement. Rapid relapse of symptoms after discontinuation of steroids was a significant indicator of multiple recurrences.
Development of metastasis in eyelid sebaceous gland carcinoma might be attributed to increased number of CSCs or acquisition of dedifferentiated phenotype. Our findings suggest that CSCs are involved in the disease progression of eyelid sebaceous gland carcinoma, and in particular, expression of ALDH1 is a predictor of a poor outcome.
The group with metastasis showed higher expression levels of Shh, ABCG2, and Wnt than did the group without metastasis, and patients with strong ABCG2 expression, Wnt, or LRP expression showed higher cumulative incidence of lymph node or distant metastasis, implying that activation of the Shh and Wnt signaling pathway is associated with aggressive behavior of the tumor.

LDO is a frequent adverse event during S-1 chemotherapy. An older age, decreased Ccr, and high plasma 5-fluorouracil concentration were found to be independent risk factors for LDO. The high incidence of LDO warrants regular ophthalmologic examination and early intervention in patients receiving S-1 therapy.

Marginal entropion is associated with morphological and functional alterations of the meibomian glands. Functional improvement after entropion repair suggests that marginal entropion could cause or exacerbate MGD. Further studies are required to establish the role of entropion repair in managing MGD.
