연구실 소개
신루미 교수의 연구실은 대장암 및 직장암의 예후 예측 및 치료 전략 개선을 목표로 하며, 특히 암의 분자생물학적 특성과 임상적 결과 간의 연관성을 규명하는 데 집중하고 있습니다. SLC2A3 유전자 발현, 저산소 관련 유전자, 메소레크탈 확장 깊이 등 다양한 분자적 및 해부학적 지표를 통해 환자의 생존율과 합병증 위험을 정량적으로 평가하는 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 또한, 병변의 특성에 맞는 개인화된 치료 전략 수립을 위한 예측 모델 개발에도 주력하고 있습니다.

15A history of heavy smoking (more than 40 pack-years) is an independently significant risk factor for anastomotic complications after low anterior resection in rectal cancer patients.
Upregulation of the SLC2A3 genes is associated with decreased OS and DFS in colorectal cancer patients. Therefore, assessment of SLC2A3 gene expression may useful for predicting prognosis in these patients.
Depth of mesorectal extension >5 mm is a significant prognostic factor in patients with T3 rectal cancer. Depth of mesorectal extension especially may be more important than the nodal status in predicting the oncologic outcome for patients who had received preoperative chemoradiotherapy.
Although the recurrence rate was relatively low after conservative management for appendicitis patients presenting with abscess or mass, there was no difference in surgical outcome between the emergent, elective, or recurrent groups. The results of this study suggest that LA may lead to a shorter length of hospital stay and may have a lower risk of superficial incisional SSI than OA.
Individualized cutoff values of the preoperative CEA level are a more practical prognostic marker following and in harmony with the TNM staging system.
In the Korean DRG system for appendectomy, there were no significant differences in perioperative outcomes and medical costs, except shorter hospital stay. Further studies should be continued to evaluate the current Korean DRG system for appendectomy and further modifications and supplementations are needed in the future.
Relative to elective surgery, emergency surgery had a higher rate of postoperative complications, open surgery, and stoma formation. As such, elective laparoscopic surgery after successful sigmoidoscopic decompression may be the optimal clinical option.
We found no consistent association between the mutational status of <i>BRAF</i> nor <i>KRAS</i> and the OS and DFS of CRC patients from the TCGA and GSE39582 databases. Studies with longer-term records and larger patient numbers may be necessary to expound the influence of <i>BRAF</i> and <i>KRAS</i> mutations on the outcomes of CRC.
