S. Ted Oyama教授の研究室は、触媒科学に焦点を当てており、特に酸化バナジウムや遷移金属窒化物・カーバイドを用いた新規触媒の開発を進めています。無酸素支持体やシリカ修飾表面を用いた酸化バナジウム触媒の表面挙動や化学吸着挙動を、ラマン分光法を用いて精密に解析しています。また、揮散性有機化合物(VOC)の制御に向けた触媒反応機構の解明も重要な研究テーマです。
