The discovery of drugs for the treatment of inflammatory allergic diseases such as, asthma, allergic rhinitis, and sinusitis is a very important subject in human health. Gallic acid (3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid), a polyphenyl natural products from gallnut and green tea, is known to have anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and radical scavenging activities. The aim of the present study was to elucidate whether gallic acid modulates the inflammatory allergic reaction and to study its

SJR Q1FWCI 27.5Frontiers in Cardiovascular MedicineOA

Early detection of subclinical atherosclerosis is important to reduce patients' cardiovascular risk. However, current diagnostic strategy focusing on traditional risk factors or using risk scoring is not satisfactory. Non-invasive imaging tools also have limitations such as cost, time, radiation hazard, renal toxicity, and requirement for specialized techniques or instruments. There is a close interaction between arterial stiffness and atherosclerosis. Increased luminal pressure and shear stress

Boosting Power‐Generating Performance of Triboelectric Nanogenerators via Artificial Control of Ferroelectric Polarization and Dielectric Properties

Low output current represents a critical challenge that has interrupted the use of triboelectric nanogenerators (TNGs) in a wide range of applications as sustainable power sources. Many approaches (e.g., operation at high frequency, parallel stacks of individual devices, and hybridization with other energy harvesters) remain limited in solving the challenge of low output current from TNGs. Here, a nanocomposite material system having a superior surface charge density as a triboelectric active ma

SJR Q1FWCI 11.3Energy & Environmental Science

We introduce a new smart SMP–TENG structure and studied its degradation and healing process. The SMP improves the endurance and lifetime, and thus demonstrates the huge potential of self-healing SMP–TENGs.

Suicide candidate genes associated with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia: An exploratory gene expression profiling analysis of post-mortem prefrontal cortex

This molecular level analysis suggests that diagnostic specific genes predominate to shared genes in common among suicide vs. non-suicide groups. These differentially expressed, candidate genes are neural correlates of suicide, not necessarily causal. While suicide is a complex endpoint with many pathways, these candidate genes provide entry points for future studies of molecular mechanisms and genetic association studies to test causality.

Extensive Development of Leak Detection Algorithm by Impulse Response Method
Sang Hyun Kim
SJR Q2FWCI 12.1Journal of Hydraulic Engineering

The oscillatory flows in pipeline systems due to excitation by valve operation are efficiently analyzed by the impulse response method. The impact of leakage is incorporated into the transfer functions of the complex head and discharge. Frequency-dependent friction is used to consider the impact of unsteady friction for laminar condition. Extensive development of the impulse response method was made by considering the sources of friction associated with the local and convective acceleration of v

quinone oxidoreductase-1 (NQO1) in human gastric epithelial (AGS) cells. Furthermore, DATS administration by gavage increased the expression of HO-1 and NQO1 in C57BL/6 mouse stomach. Treatment with DATS increased the accumulation of nuclear factor-erythroid-2-related factor-2 (Nrf2) in the nucleus of cultured AGS cells and in mouse stomach in vivo. The DATS-induced expression of HO-1 and NQO1 was abrogated in the cells transiently transfected with Nrf2-siRNA or in the embryonic fibroblasts from

For the upcoming ubiquitous computing environments in the u-health areas involve the measurement of physiological signals in the daily life. However, the measurement of those signals, such as the photoplethysmorgraphy (PPG), and the electrocardiogram (ECG), requires being still tight during the measurement in order to get the accurate result preventing noises caused by the casual movement. In this paper, we propose a method to obtain the accurate physiological signals in the situation where the

The geometry of the curve graph of a right-angled Artin group
Sang‐Hyun Kim, Thomas Koberda
SJR Q2FWCI 9.8International Journal of Algebra and Computation

We develop an analogy between right-angled Artin groups and mapping class groups through the geometry of their actions on the extension graph and the curve graph, respectively. The central result in this paper is the fact that each right-angled Artin group acts acylindrically on its extension graph. From this result, we are able to develop a Nielsen–Thurston classification for elements in the right-angled Artin group. Our analogy spans both the algebra regarding subgroups of right-angled Artin g
