15Although the tail of the pancreas is the second most common site of an accessory spleen, intrapancreatic accessory spleen (IPAS) has rarely been noted radiologically. However, as the imaging techniques have recently advanced, IPAS will be more frequently detected as an incidental pancreatic nodule on CT or MRI. Because accessory spleens usually pose no clinical problems, it is important to characterize accessory spleens as noninvasively as possible. An IPAS has similar characteristics to those o
Use of CT esophagography allows grading of esophageal varices and differentiation between low- and high-risk varices and shows better patient acceptance than does endoscopy.
Delayed gadobenate dimeglumine-enhanced MR imaging allows improved characterization of HCC in cirrhotic liver. The relative hypointensity to adjacent normal liver parenchyma is a reliable predictor that this lesion favors HCC rather than DN in cirrhotic liver.
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract and are defined by their expression of KIT (CD117). This article includes 109 pathologically proven GISTs, with emphasis on their various computed tomography (CT) features. Although the images of GISTs on the CT scan are often distinct from those of epithelial tumors, radiologists should be familiar with these features for the accurate diagnosis of GISTs.
Focal peliosis hepatis showed various enhancement patterns on contrast-enhanced CT and MRI, depending on the histopathologic findings.
Because the tongue is superficially located and the initial manifestation of most diseases occurring there is mucosal change, lingual lesions can be easily accessed and diagnosed without imaging analysis. Some lingual neoplasms, however, may manifest as a submucosal bulge and be located in a deep portion of the tongue, such as its base; their true characteristics and extent may be recognized only on cross-sectional images such as those obtained by CT or MRI. Some uncommon tongue neoplasms may ha
Multiple-electrode RF systems in switching monopolar and multipolar modes more efficiently created a larger, confluent, spherical-shaped coagulation than conventional consecutive RF ablation.
This retrospective study was institutional review board approved; the requirement for informed patient consent was waived. The purpose of this study was to retrospectively compare a two-dimensional (2D) data interpretation technique with a three-dimensional (3D) colon dissection technique in terms of interpretation time and sensitivity for colonic polyp detection, with colonoscopy as the reference standard. Ninety-six patients (56 men, 40 women; mean age, 54.8 years) underwent colonoscopy and mu
One-molar, gadobutrol-enhanced, dynamic imaging, using a 3D-GRE technique with isotropic 3D-MRC showed excellent diagnostic capability for assessing the longitudinal extent and tumor resectability of bile duct cancer, although it generally underestimated the tumor involvement of vessels and lymph nodes.

Our results demonstrate that MDCT can correctly classify the morphological subtype of EHC. Nevertheless, CT has a strong tendency to underestimate the longitudinal tumor extent compared with the pathological results.
DC-MRI showed significantly better diagnostic performance in transplantation candidates for the detection of HCCs, particularly small HCCs, than both MDCT and S-MRI. However, for assessing the appropriateness of a transplantation recipient based on Milan criteria, MDCT, S-MRI, and DC-MRI showed comparable diagnostic accuracy without a statistical difference.
