Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase Functionally Compartmentalizes the Concurrent G s Signaling During β 2 -Adrenergic Stimulation

SJR Q1FWCI 3.9Circulation ResearchOA

Compartmentation of intracellular signaling pathways serves as an important mechanism conferring the specificity of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling. In the heart, stimulation of beta2-adrenoceptor (beta2-AR), a prototypical GPCR, activates a tightly localized protein kinase A (PKA) signaling, which regulates substrates at cell surface membranes, bypassing cytosolic target proteins (eg, phospholamban). Although a concurrent activation of beta2-AR-coupled G(i) proteins has been implica

Multiple Receptors Coupled to Phospholipase C Gate Long-Term Depression in Visual Cortex

SJR Q1FWCI 1.8Journal of NeuroscienceOA

Long-term depression (LTD) in sensory cortices depends on the activation of NMDA receptors. Here, we report that in visual cortical slices, the induction of LTD (but not long-term potentiation) also requires the activation of receptors coupled to the phospholipase C (PLC) pathway. Using immunolesions in combination with agonists and antagonists, we selectively manipulated the activation of alpha1 adrenergic, M1 muscarinic, and mGluR5 glutamatergic receptors. Inactivation of these PLC-coupled rec

Absence of Long-Term Depression in the Visual Cortex of Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase-65 Knock-Out Mice
Se‐Young Choi, Bernardo Morales, Hey‐Kyoung Lee, Alfredo Kirkwood
SJR Q1FWCI 1.5Journal of NeuroscienceOA

Long-term depression (LTD) is widely considered a mechanism for experience-induced synaptic weakening in the brain. Recent <i>in vivo</i> studies on glutamic acid decarboxylase [GAD 65 (−/−)] knock-out mice indicates that GABAergic synaptic inhibition is also required for the normal weakening of deprived inputs in the visual cortex. To better understand how GABAergic inhibition might control plasticity, we assessed the status of synaptic inhibition and LTD in visual cortical slices of GAD 65 kno

Regulated RalBP1 Binding to RalA and PSD-95 Controls AMPA Receptor Endocytosis and LTD

Long-term depression (LTD) is a long-lasting activity-dependent decrease in synaptic strength. NMDA receptor (NMDAR)–dependent LTD, an extensively studied form of LTD, involves the endocytosis of AMPA receptors (AMPARs) via protein dephosphorylation, but the underlying mechanism has remained unclear. We show here that a regulated interaction of the endocytic adaptor RalBP1 with two synaptic proteins, the small GTPase RalA and the postsynaptic scaffolding protein PSD-95, controls NMDAR-dependent

Anti-Inflammatory Effects of<i>Inonotus obliquus</i>in Colitis Induced by Dextran Sodium Sulfate

FWCI 3.5Journal of Biomedicine and BiotechnologyOA

A total of 28 male BALB/c mice (average weight 20.7 +/- 1.6 g) were divided into 4 treatment groups and fed a commercial diet (A), a commercial diet + induced colitis by dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) (B), Inonotus obliquus (IO) administration (C), and IO administration + induced colitis by DSS (D). IO treatment (C, D) decreased the expression of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha and signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT)1 compared to those of the colitis induced group (B). Research on annihilation of cancer cells by glass-ceramics for cancer treatment with external magnetic field. I. Preparation and cytotoxicity

FWCI 0.4Journal of Biomedical Materials Research

Ferrimagnetic glass-ceramics were prepared as a heating mediator for hyperthermia in cancer treatment. We prepared glasses in the system 40Fe2O3-30CaO-30SiO2 and precipitated ferrimagnetic crystallites through controlled two-step heat treatment. To improve the heating capability of ferrimagnetic crystallites, i.e., magnetite, generation of other crystalline phases should be prohibited. The addition of each 1% of P2O5 and B2O3 led to lowering the crystallization temperature of magnetite, which wa

Regulation of hippocampal long‐term potentiation and long‐term depression by diacylglycerol kinaseζ
Jinsoo Seo, Karam Kim, Seil Jang, Seungnam Han, Se‐Young Choi, Eunjoon Kim
SJR Q1FWCI 0.4Hippocampus

Diacylglycerol (DAG) is an important signaling molecule at neuronal synapses. Generation of synaptic DAG is triggered by the activation of diverse surface receptors including N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors and metabotropic glutamate receptors. The action of DAG is terminated by enzymatic conversion of DAG to phosphatidic acid (PA) by DAG kinases (DGKs). DGKζ, one of many mammalian DGKs, is localized to synapses through direct interaction with the postsynaptic scaffolding protein PSD-95, a

Chlorpromazine inhibits store‐operated calcium entry and subsequent noradrenaline secretion in PC12 cells

SJR Q1FWCI 0.3British Journal of PharmacologyOA

1. The effect of chlorpromazine on the store-operated Ca2+ entry activated via the phospholipase C signalling pathway was investigated in PC12 cells. 2. Chlorpromazine inhibited the sustained increase after the initial peak in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration produced by bradykinin while having no effect on the initial transient response. The inhibition was lowered by the removal of extracellular free Ca2+. However, chlorpromazine did not inhibit bradykinin-induced inositol 1,4,5-trisphospha

Vaccinia-related kinases (VRKs) are multifaceted serine/threonine kinases that play essential roles in various aspects of cell signaling, cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and neuronal development and differentiation. However, the neuronal function of <i>VRK3</i> is still unknown despite its etiological potential in human autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Here, we report that <i>VRK3</i>-deficient mice exhibit typical symptoms of autism-like behavior, including hyperactivity, stereotyped behavior

The prostaglandin-evoked cAMP production was studied in human neuroblastoma SK-N-BE(2)C cells during neuronal differentiation induced by all-trans retinoic acid. The incubation with 5 microM all-trans retinoic acid for 4-6 days promoted neurite outgrowth of cells. After differentiation, prostaglandin E(2) (PGE(2))-induced cAMP production was dramatically increased, whereas forskolin- and AlF-induced cAMP productions were not changed. The increase reached maximum after 4-days of incubation with a
