Abstract Polypyrrole (PPy) was polymerized both chemically and electrochemically in sequence on nylon 6 woven fabrics, giving rise to polypyrrole–nylon 6 composite fabrics (PPy–N) with a high electric conductivity. The stability of the composite prepared by electrochemical polymerization (ECP) on chemical oxidative polymerization (COP) fabric was better than that of the composite prepared solely by the COP process, since the AQSA dopant was able to strongly interact with the PPy main chain and h
Abstract Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) nanocomposites reinforced with multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were prepared through melt compounding in a twin‐screw extruder. The presence of MWCNTs, which acted as good nucleating agents, enhanced the crystallization of PET through heterogeneous nucleation. The incorporation of a small quantity of MWCNTs improved the thermal stability of the PET/MWCNT nanocomposites. The mechanical properties of the PET/MWCNT nanocomposites increased with even a
Abstract The effect of stearic acid modification on the dispersity of silica nanoparticles and the adhesion between the filler and polymer matrix with stearic acid concentration were investigated. The wettability of silica nanoparticles was improved by the addition of stearic acid. The presence of adsorbed stearic acid on the surface of the silica nanoparticles reduced the interaction between silica nanoparticles, and reduced the size of agglomerates with increasing concentration. Silica nanopar
Abstract Polymer nanocomposites consisting of multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and poly(ethylene 2,6‐naphthalate) (PEN) were prepared by a melt blending process in a twin‐screw extruder. The storage modulus ( G′ ) and loss modulus ( G″ ) of the PEN/MWCNT nanocomposites increased with increasing frequency, and this increment being more significant at low frequency. The terminal zone slope of G′ for the PEN/MWCNT nanocomposites decreased with increasing MWCNT content, and the nonterminal behavior
Abstract Carbon nanotube (CNT)‐reinforced poly(ethylene 2,6‐naphthalate) (PEN) nanocomposites were prepared by direct melt blending process in a twin‐screw extruder. There is significant dependence of the crystallization and melting behavior of PEN/CNT nanocomposites on CNT content and crystallization temperature. The incorporation of CNT may favor the formation of the β‐form crystals in PEN/CNT nanocomposites, and more CNT content amplified this effect. In this PEN/CNT nanocomposite system, the
Abstract Electroconductive fabrics were prepared to improve the properties of conductive electrode pad material used for electrotherapy when it is subjected to various movements of the human body. Highly stretchable and conductive fabrics were prepared by in situ electrochemical polymerization of polypyrrole (PPy) on nylon/spandex stretchable fabric in aqueous solutions with 0.05 M pyrrole and 0.05 M anthraquinone‐2‐sulfonic acid, sodium salt monohydrate (AQSA) at room temperature for 2 h. : A highly porous nonwoven thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)/Polypropylene (PP) triboelectric nanogenerator (N-TENG) was developed. To fabricate the triboelectric layers, the TPU nanofiber was directly electrospun onto the nonwoven PP at different basis weights (15, 30, and 50 g/m2). The surface morphologies and porosities of the nonwoven PP and TPU nanofiber mats were characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy and porosimetry. The triboelectric performance of the nonwove
Abstract Electrically conductive polyaniline (PANI)/[poly( m ‐phenylene isophthalamide)] Nomex composite fabric was prepared by in situ polymerization of aniline doped by a mixture of hydrochloride (HCl) and various sulfonic acids such as benzenesulfonic acid (BSA), sulfosalicylic acid (SSA), and dodecylbenesulfonic acid (DBSA); their effect on conductivity and physical properties were then investigated. PANI/Nomex composite fabrics doped by a mixture of protonic acids exhibited higher conductiv
The combination of the triboelectric effect and static electricity as a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) has been extensively studied. TENGs using nanofibers have advantages such as high surface roughness, porous structure, and ease of production by electrospinning; however, their shortcomings include high-cost, limited yield, and poor mechanical properties. Microfibers are produced on mass scale at low cost; they are solvent-free, their thickness can be easily controlled, and they have relati
Abstract Additive‐type flame retardants used in polyurethane foams (PUFs) have low compatibility with the matrix and have a large particle size which reduces the mechanical strength. To overcome this, cellulose‐based additive‐type flame retardants were prepared. Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was grinded to a suitable size to be applying as a reinforcement for urethane foam. The ground MCC was coated with the mussel‐derived adhesive protein, dopamine, and formed the iron phosphonate coordinati
