Professor Seung Hwa Lee's research lab focuses on gastrointestinal endoscopy, particularly colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy, with an emphasis on procedural training, skill acquisition, and improving diagnostic accuracy. The lab also investigates clinical conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome in relation to liver function and metabolic syndrome, and contributes to interventional cardiology through comprehensive imaging assessment in coronary artery disease. Additionally, the lab explores linguistic structures in Brazilian Portuguese, particularly compound word formation from a lexical morphology perspective.

The incidence of colorectal cancer has been increasing in the developed world including South Korea and China. Colonoscopy allows for greater diagnostic specificity and sensitivity compared with other types of examinations, such as the stool occult blood test, barium enema, and computed tomography colonography. Therefore, in recent years, the demand for colonoscopies has grown rapidly. New beginners including primary care physicians may help meet the increasing demand by performing colonoscopies
The incidence of gastric cancer remains high in South Korea. Upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, i.e., esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), has a higher diagnostic specificity and sensitivity than the upper GI series. Additionally, EGD has the ability to biopsy, through taking a tissue of the pathologic lesion. Successful training of EGD procedural skills require a few important things to be learned and remembered, including the posture of an examinee (e.g., left lateral decubitus and supine) an
On the basis of our study results, IBS may be an important condition in certain patients with elevated ALT levels and MS.
Comprehensive CCTA assessment was able to predict intraprocedural SB occlusion better than the current angiographic classification or scoring system. The CT bifurcation score may thus be a helpful guide for selecting the optimal bifurcation PCI strategy.
Among patients treated with PCI for CTO, DAPT with durations of ≤ 12-month showed similar long-term clinical outcomes compared to > 12-month DAPT.
In the treatment of CTO in elderly patients, MT alone did not increase the risk of long-term cardiac death when compared with aggressive revascularization treatment.
