유승현 교수의 연구실은 신경전달물질 분비를 조절하는 세밀한 분자 기전에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 특히 비정상적 스마트폰 사용과 청소년 정서적 문제 간의 인과관계를 심리학적·생물학적 요소와 연계해 연구하고 있습니다. 또한, 분비세포의 분비 granule 형성과 칼슘 저장 기능을 담당하는 크로모그라닌 단백질(Chromogranin A/B)의 pH 및 칼슘 이온 의존적 구조적 특성과 기능적 상호작용을 중심으로 기초 생물학적 메커니즘을 규명하고 있습니다. 이와 더불어, 인오스이트올 1,4,5-trisphosphate 수용체와의 상호작용을 통해 세포 내 칼슘 신호전달 경로의 조절 원리를 밝히는 데도 기여하고 있습니다.

Chromogranin A, the most abundant protein in bovine adrenal chromaffin granules, bound calmodulin in a Ca2(+)-dependent manner, and the calmodulin-binding property was utilized to purify chromogranin A. The effect of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (Ins(1,4,5)P3) and calcium ionophore A23187 on Ca2+ release from bovine adrenal medullary secretory vesicles and microsomes was examined.
