Hirono教授の研究室では、運動生理学的アプローチを通じて、筋肉の肥大・機能変化とその調節要因を解明しています。特に、抵抗運動による筋肥大のメカニズム、筋肉の急性な腫脹反応、および時間的要因(日中の変動、短期間の体重変化)が筋機能に与える影響に注力しています。非侵襲的刺激法(rPMS)を用いた筋肉反応の評価や、高負荷・低負荷のセット間休息時間の違いが筋肉に与える急性効果についても、超音波を用いた精密な測定を実施しています。
