Matsumura教授の研究室は、腸内細菌である大腸菌の耐性獲得機構とその流行伝播メカニズムに焦点を当てており、特にESBL産生大腸菌の国際的拡散を解明するための全ゲノム解析や、ST131というパンデミック的クローナルラインナジの遺伝的特徴と耐性遺伝子の関連を解明しています。特に、CTX-M型βラクタマーゼを有するST131のサブクローナルグループ(C2/H30Rx、C1/H30R)の発生と拡散メカニズム、ならびにIS26やISEcp1といった可動遺伝子要素の役割にも注目しています。臨床的意義も併せた耐性菌の疫学的・分子疫学的解析が特徴です。

This is the first report, to the best of our knowledge, describing blaIMP on IncFII(K) plasmids and blaVIM on IncL/M, IncN2, IncHI1B-IncFIB(Mar) and IncX3-IncC-like plasmids and showed that broad-host-range and narrow-host-range plasmids have contributed to the global spread of blaIMP and blaVIM among different species. This study highlights the importance of molecular analysis of plasmids in providing insight into horizontal spread of these carbapenemases.
