福井教授の研究室は、皮膚疾患の発症メカニズムと再生医療の両面から、特にエピデルモリシス・ボリュータス(EB)やアトピー皮膚炎に類似した疾患の病態解明と細胞治療戦略の確立を目的としています。特に骨髄由来の多能性幹細胞(Muse細胞)を用いた皮膚の構造タンパク質修復や、自己免疫性皮膚炎の免疫調節機構の解明が進んでいます。また、皮膚のバリア機能と免疫細胞の相互作用に関連する分子機構の解明も重要な研究テーマです。
