임영진 교수의 연구실은 뇌신경과학 및 심장혈관외과 분야에서 뇌경색, 뇌손상 예방 및 심장수술 중 혈역학적 관리에 중점을 두고 있습니다. 특히 모르핀 전처리가 뇌경색 손상에 미치는 신경보호 작용과 미토콘드리아 KATP 채널, 도파민 수용체 기반 메커니즘을 규명하며 임상적 응용 가능성을 탐색하고 있습니다. 또한, 심장관류수술 중 오른쪽 심장 부담을 줄이기 위한 약물 조합(밀리르논-바소프레신)의 효과 분석을 통해 혈역학적 안정성을 높이는 전략을 모색하고 있습니다.

These data suggest that morphine preconditioning is neuroprotective. This neuroprotection may be delta1-opioid receptor dependent and may involve mitochondrial adenosine triphosphate-sensitive potassium channel activation and free radical production. Because morphine is a commonly used analgesic, morphine preconditioning may be explored further for potential clinical use to reduce ischemic brain injury.
In the patients undergoing CABG surgery, both norepinephrine and low dose vasopressin were effective in restoring milrinone-induced decrease of SVR. However, only low-dose vasopressin decreased the PVR/SVR ratio that was increased by milrinone. Considering the importance of maintaining systemic perfusion pressure as well as reducing right heart afterload, milrinone-vasopressin may provide better hemodynamics than milrinone-norephinephrine during the management of right heart failure.
Cranial irradiation may lead to accelerated atherosclerotic changes to small or medium sized arteries, but stroke associated with pituitary irradiation is not frequent. The authors demonstrate that the K-PANAS has adequate psychometric properties, and that findings obtained in the West using PANAS were partially replicated.
In 16% of patients, the IABP was too close to the LSCA origin when it was placed at the aortic knob, whereas positioning the IABP at 2 cm above the carina provided an adequate position for the IABP tip (1.5-3.5 cm distal to the origin of the LSCA) in 95.3% of patients. The carina may be a more reliable landmark for positioning the IABP than the aortic knob.
This study demonstrates that coiling length is independent of whether the bevel of the Tuohy needle is directed cephalad or caudad. We recommend that an optimal insertion depth of an end-hole single orifice catheter is 3 cm.

The effect of radiosurgery on optic gliomas is uncertain. We report two cases of low-grade glioma of the optic nerve and chiasm treated by transcranial subtotal removal and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. The first case was a 2-year-old boy, admitted with visual disturbance and nystagmus. Histopathological examination showed a pilocytic astrocytoma. The tumor volume was 14.4 cm3. We propose a single-cell-gap transflective liquid crystal display (LCD) with dual orientation of LC at an initial state. Owing to hybrid alignment in the reflective region, the effective cell retardation value becomes half of that in the transmissive region where the LCs are homogenously aligned. Consequently, a transflective display driven by a vertical or fringe electric field with a single cell gap and high image quality is realized.
