研究室紹介

Professor Bomin Kim's research lab specializes in molecular oncology and cancer pharmacology, with a focus on natural compounds like ginsenoside Rg3 and their mechanisms in inducing apoptosis and inhibiting proliferation in breast cancer cells. The lab investigates key signaling pathways, particularly NF-κB and p53, to understand how Rg3 exerts anti-tumor effects in aggressive cancer phenotypes. Additionally, the lab engages in interdisciplinary scholarship, exploring the intersection of political thought, literary form, and historical performance—particularly in early modern English drama and masques—through philosophical and critical lenses such as Agamben’s biopolitical theory.

Ginsenoside Rg3 Induces Apoptosis of Human Breast Cancer (MDA-MB-231) Cells
김보민, 김도희, 박정일, 나혜경, Young-Joon Surh

Background: Rg3, a major ginsenoside derived from heat-processed ginseng, has been reported to have anti-inflammatory andanti-proliferative activities. In our previous studies, Rg3 inhibited phorbol ester-induced cyclooxygenase-2 expression and NF-κBactivation in cultured human mammary epithelial (MCF-10A) cells and in mouse skin in vivo. In this study, we investigatedRg3-induced apoptosis in human breast cancer (MDA-MB-231) cells and underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods: After Rg3 treatment

Ginsenoside Rg3 Inhibits Constitutive Activation of NF-κB Signaling in Human Breast Cancer (MDA-MB-231) Cells: ERK and Akt as Potential Upstream Targets
김보민, 김도희, 박정일, 서영준, 나혜경

Ginsenoside Rg3, one of the major ingredients of heat-processed ginseng, has been reported to inhibit the growth of various cancer cells. We previously reported that Rg3 inhibited the proliferation and induced apoptosis of breast cancer (MDA-MB-231) cells. In the present study, we have explored the mechanism underlying the anti-proliferative and proapoptotic effects of Rg3 in MDA-MB-231 cells, which have constitutively activated NF-κB and the mutant form of p53. Rg3 inhibited DNA binding and tra

『평화의 개선행진』에 나타난 궁정 가면극(masque)의 물질문화와 연극성(theatricality)
김보민
밀턴과근세영문학

This essay brings into critical spotlight the thirteenth antimasque of The Triumph of Peace (1634), for which James Shirley provided the script and Inigo Jones art direction. Critics of the masque diverge on its political message--whether it celebrates or criticizes Charles’s personal rule--but agree in basing their arguments on Shirley’s script. Basing my interpretation on the idea of the masque as what Tom Bishop termed a “formal and kinetic event”, I argue that the thirteenth antimasque const

“After the pure manner of Amsterdam”: Baptism in the Post-Reformation Church of England and Thomas Middleton’s A Chaste Maid in Cheapside
김보민

This paper uncovers a reference to puritan contentions about baptism in The Chaste Maid in Cheapside so far unnoticed by scholarship. Puritan objections to the liturgy for baptism had remained fairly constant from early on in the Reformation: the surplice worn by the minister in church services, crossing of the infant’s forehead, surrogation of the godparents for the infant in baptismal interrogatories, and lay baptism. More radical attacks on baptism as prescribed by the Book of Common Prayer c

Contemporary Analogues of Paulina’s Magic in William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale
김보민

Commentators of William Shakespeare’s The Winter's Tale regularly assume that the spectators’ cognitive vantage is reduced to that of the dramatic characters in the final scene of the play that stages the revitalization of the supposedly dead queen. I challenge this assumption of a naïve audience by drawing attention to affinities between the Paulina of the final scene and the impostor witches in Thomas Middleton’s and Ben Jonson’s cony-catching comedies. I show how the magicians in all three pl

셰익스피어 공연 언어의 딜레마: 테레사 리벡의 『베르나르/햄릿』
김보민

This article examines the linguistic premise of Teresa Rebeck’s 2018 play Bernhardt/Hamlet, a historical fiction centered on the legendary French actress Sarah Bernhardt as she struggles to stage her own interpretation of Hamlet with herself in the title role. In the play, characters speak standard English and recite Shakespeare’s original language, yet they are meant to be understood as conversing in French and performing a French verse translation of Hamlet. I argue that this linguistic setup

The Karma of Power: The“Both Sides” of Machiavellian Exemplarity in The Prince and the Paradox of Agambenian Sovereignty
김보민

This study offers an Agambenian interpretation of Machiavelli’s use ofhistorical examples in The Prince. I show how, even as Machiavelli insistson the impunity with which the prince can and should transgress traditionalnorms of political action for the sake of his personal safety and thestability of the body politic, his historical examples, initially appearingfragmentarily for illustrative purposes, gradually snowball into stories ofthe fall, as well as the rise, of princes. If the prince can r

Purpose: This study identifies the factors influencing unplanned readmissions among participants of the medical aid community care pilot program. Methods: This descriptive study analyzed data from 1,013 participants in a medical aid community care pilot program. Data were analyzed using multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: The presence of mental illness, injury-related conditions, long-term care grades, and activities of daily living scores are key factors influencing the likelihood o
