Professor Byung-Geun Kim's research lab focuses on advancing biomedical and electrochemical technologies, with a strong emphasis on allergic diseases, respiratory health, and electrocatalyst design. The lab investigates the microbiome's role in airway diseases such as asthma and allergic rhinitis across different age groups, particularly in adult and elderly populations, using high-throughput sequencing to uncover microbial dysbiosis. In parallel, the lab explores surface engineering of electrocatalysts—particularly nickel phosphide films—to enhance hydrogen evolution reaction performance by manipulating hydrophilicity and gas bubble dynamics. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge clinical immunology, microbiome science, and materials science for improved therapeutic and energy applications.
