研究室紹介
Professor Chae Young Lim's research lab specializes in biomedical engineering and health technology, focusing on the development of wearable and portable monitoring systems for real-time physiological and environmental monitoring in high-risk occupational settings. The lab investigates clinical interventions such as stellate ganglion block for lymphedema and transcranial direct current stimulation for neuromodulation, while also advancing low-power, sensor-based systems for activity monitoring and fall detection in aging populations. Their work bridges clinical rehabilitation, biomedical signal processing, and smart health technologies to improve patient outcomes and workplace safety.

Background: We were interested in getting feedback from physical therapists practicing in individualized home health programs about the present situation and the problems of home-based rehabilitation therapy services. Methods: We recruited 110 physical therapists practicing in individualized home-visiting health programs offered at health centers. They each completed a 15-item self-administered questionnaire including personal information, therapy environments, characteristics of patients, treat
Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of stellate ganglion block in patients with secondary lymphedema after breast cancer treatment. Method: In a prospective clinical trial, the consecutive stellate ganglion block (SGB) was performed every two weeks to 10 patients (Mean age 46.0±9.4 (yr)) who was diagnosed as of secondary lymphedema after breast cancer treatment. The parameters were the circumstance of arm and the thickness of skin and subcutaneous tissue of the affected arm measured by
We investigate pediatric tumor incidence data collected by the Florida Association for Pediatric Tumor program using various models commonly used in disease mapping analysis. Particularly, we consider Poisson normal models with various conditional autoregressive structure for spatial dependence, a zero-inflated component to capture excess zero counts and a spatio-temporal model to capture spatial and temporal dependence, together. We found that intrinsic conditional autoregressive model provides
It has used buoy for efficient domestic farm operations and fishermen fish. Buoy uses IoT-based communication to transmit water temperature, salinity, humidity, wind speed, etc. to fishers in real time. In this paper, we utilize LoRa, which enables communication in the marine environment, to construct a network and apply it to an actual buoy for monitoring. The implemented LoRa uses the 900MHz band to configure the network. The sensor consisted of a sensor that can monitor the atmospheric enviro
Objectives: To estimate the effects of the direct current (DC) stimulation applied at the cervical region on corticospinal excitability Methods: 11 healthy volunteers (26.8±3.31Yrs) participated in this study. A weak direct current (2 mA) was delivered on their cervical region using a constant current stimulator for 20 minutes. The magnetic stimulation was applied over the primary motor cortex and motor evoked potential (MEP) was measured at the abductor pollicis brevis (APB) muscle. Experimenta
In this discussion, the sensitivity of the result by the choice of parameters a and b in one of approaches reviewed by the authors to calculate the marginal likelihood for 2 parameter logistic item response theory model is investigated using a small simulation study.
This paper was aimed at implementing fabric-type flexible platform based complex bio-signal monitoring system which can acquire and monitor complex bio-signals (heartbeat, body temperature, ECG, and EMG) and additional situational information (3-axis acceleration, temperature, illuminance, humidity, and neighboring image) of special workers employed in special working environments, such as police officers, soldiers, and firefighters, and at introducing the immediate and efficient measures by pre
Objective To evaluate the effect of stellate ganglion block (SGB) on the lymphoscintigraphic findings in patients with secondary lymphedema after breast cancer treatment. Method Fourteen patients were included in this retrospective study. Consecutive SGBs were performed three times, once every two weeks. The parameters for the lymphoscintigraphic findings included the extent of dermal backflow (small extent/large extent group), the presence of a washout pattern (washout/non-washout group) and vi
Radiation-induced lumbosacral plexopathy is a rare complication of pelvic irradiation. There are few reports of detailed clinical and electrophysiological studies. In this retrospective study, we identified all patients with a diagnosis of radiation-induced lumbosacral plexopathy encountered at Seoul National University Hospital between 1979 and April, 2010. We were able to find five patients, whose characteristic clinical features can be summarized as follows: 1) One of the five patients had re
