Professor Chan Mi Lee's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with a strong emphasis on clinical oncology, immunology, and molecular breeding in agriculture. The lab investigates prognostic biomarkers in colorectal cancer, such as myosteatosis, and explores host-pathogen interactions in severe infections like CRAB bacteraemia. It also examines immune-related adverse events in cancer immunotherapy, particularly vasculitis, and contributes to improving diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Additionally, the lab applies molecular genetics to enhance crop traits, notably grain size in rice, through allele-based breeding models.

Our results suggest that a large proportion of CRAB bacteraemia with high severity progresses to a rapidly fatal course, regardless of the underlying diseases or source of infection. Vasculitis as an irAE appears clinically heterogeneous and rare. Among reported cases with adequate documentation, vasculitis is of delayed onset following the initiation of immunotherapy. Outcomes of ICI-vasculitis were generally favorable, responding to glucocorticoids and immunotherapy withdrawal. There is an urgent need for more standardized reporting of rare irAEs such as vasculitis to clarify clinical risks, classification, relationship to immunotherapy and outcomes.
