Professor Chang-goo Ji's research lab specializes in industrial organization, platform economics, and competition policy, with a focus on digital market regulation. The lab investigates the strategic behavior of online platforms, particularly concerning pricing practices such as most-favoured-nation (MFN) clauses, and their implications for market competition, pricing, and welfare. Research also examines the role of market power and regulatory interventions in multi-sided platforms, especially in asymmetric market environments. The lab aims to provide policy-relevant insights into how antitrust and regulatory frameworks can enhance market efficiency and consumer welfare in digital economies.

1본고는 두 온라인 중개플랫폼에서 상품을 판매하는 판매자에게 플랫폼 사업자가 최혜대우를 요구하는 상황을 살펴본다. 구체적으로 각 플랫폼에서 판매자의 상품 수요가 서로 다른 비대칭적 모형을 상정하고, 플랫폼의 시장지배력이 판매자에게 최혜대우를 요구할 유인에 미치는 영향과, 나아가 가격제한행위에 대한 규제가 수수료 및 상품 가격 그리고 후생에 미치는 영향에 대해 분석한다. 특정 플랫폼의 시장지배력이 강화될수록 플랫폼 사업자가 최혜대우를 요구할 유인이 증가하며, 이는 경쟁 플랫폼이 시장에서 배제될 가능성을 높이게 된다. 경쟁 당국의 최혜대우 요구행위 금지 조치는 수수료와 상품 가격을 인하시키고, 이를 통해 플랫폼을 통한 총 거래량이 증가하여 후생을 개선시킨다. 또한, 이러한 규제는 플랫폼 사업자에게 운영비용절감을 위한 투자 유인을 제공한다.
