Professor Changhoon Song's research lab focuses on advancing biomedical and materials science through innovative approaches in cancer therapy and energy storage. The lab investigates prognostic biomarkers and treatment response in gastrointestinal and head and neck cancers, particularly using pathological response grading and molecular signaling pathways to improve patient outcomes. In parallel, the lab develops functional nanomaterial-based devices, such as high-voltage supercapacitors with shape memory for biomedical applications, emphasizing materials design for energy efficiency and biocompatibility. The integration of clinical oncology with materials engineering defines the lab’s interdisciplinary research direction.

The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and efficacy of high-dose, single-fraction electron beam radiotherapy for therapy-resistant keloids. These data suggest that, following radical prostatectomy, elective WPRT during SRT may improve bRFS compared with PBRT in selected patients. Patients with preoperative PSA level ≤20 ng/mL or pre-SRT PSA level ≥0.4 ng/mL represent a potential subgroup who benefit most from receiving WPRT. Results of prospective randomized trials are awaited to confirm this finding.
