Professor Changhun Kim's research lab specializes in biomedical engineering and clinical research, with a focus on clinical hepatology, particularly drug-induced liver injury (DILI) and the development of improved causality assessment tools. The lab also conducts advanced research in neurosurgical interventions, such as anterior cingulotomy for treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders like OCD. Additionally, the lab contributes to medical imaging and signal processing, including the design of efficient VLSI architectures for finite field arithmetic and the radiological characterization of sinonasal pathologies such as fungal balls and mucoceles.

15DILI appears to be a highly relevant health problem in Korea. "Herbal medications" are the principal cause of DILI. A more objective and reproducible causality assessment tool is strongly desired as the RUCAM scale frequently undercounts the cases caused by herbs owing to a lack of previous information and incompatible time criteria.
OBJECTIVE: This study was designed to prospectively investigate the efficacy and cognitive adverse effects of stereotactic bilateral anterior cingulotomy as a treatment for refractory obsessive-compulsive (OCD) patients for 12 months. In this paper, an efficient digit-serial systolic array is proposed for multiplication in finite field GF(2/sup m/) using the standard basis representation. From the least significant bit first multiplication algorithm, we obtain a new dependence graph and design an efficient digit-serial systolic multiplier. If input data come in continuously, the proposed array can produce multiplication results at a rate of one every /spl lceil/m/L/spl rceil/ clock cycles, where L is the selected digit size.

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a heterogeneous inflammatory airway disease involving non-eosinophilic and eosinophilic phenotypes, which translate to various endotypes. Activated eosinophils and neutrophils are known to generate extracellular traps consisting of DNA and cytotoxic granule proteins. We sought to investigate the presence of eosinophil and neutrophil extracellular traps (EETs and NETs, respectively) in human CRS tissues and to clarify the associations with their clinical features.
MUC5AC and MUC5B mRNA levels did not change after treatment with pure water and various concentrations of saline. Total mucin and MUC5AC mucin secretions only increased following pure water treatment, while MUC5B mucin secretion increased with pure water, hypo- and hypertonic saline treatment. Morphologic analysis revealed that pure water severely damaged normal human nasal epithelial cells and that only isotonic saline did not affect their morphology.
Since the first rabies case was reported in a dog in 1907, the disease was enzootic up to 1975 in Korea. After a steady decrease in the number of rabies cases from 1976 to 1984, no case was reported for 8 years from 1985 to 1992. Then, a resurgence of the disease was noted in 1993, and a continuous increase of rabies cases was observed during the following years. Absolute tongue volume showed stronger associations with lowest O2 saturation during sleep than with the severity of AHI. Eight isolates of the dinoflagellates Alexandrium tamarense and A. catenella germinated from benthic cysts were cultivated in axenic and clonal batch conditions, and changes in PSP toxin content and composition were analyzed by HPLC-fluorometric analysis.
