Professor Chi-Hwan Cha's research lab specializes in breast cancer epidemiology, clinical oncology, and personalized treatment strategies, with a strong focus on molecular subtypes, targeted therapies, and treatment outcomes in Asian populations. The lab investigates the impact of systemic therapies—particularly HER2-targeted agents and endocrine therapy—on pathologic responses and survival in early and metastatic breast cancer. It also examines the long-term effects of adjuvant treatments, such as tamoxifen, on bone health in premenopausal patients. The lab leverages large-scale national registries, including the Korean Breast Cancer Registry, to inform clinical guidelines and improve patient outcomes.

Yin Yang 1 (YY1) is a transcription factor that regulates epigenetic pathways and protein modifications. CP2c is a transcription factor that functions as an oncogene to regulate cell proliferation. YY1 is known to interact with CP2c to suppress CP2c’s transcriptional activity. This study aimed to investigate YY1 and CP2c expression in breast cancer and prognostic implications. We aimed to investigate the differences in prognosis between patients with HER2-low and HER2-zero status.
