研究室紹介

Professor Choon Gon Jang's research lab focuses on neurobehavioral and neuroinflammatory mechanisms underlying environmental toxicants, psychiatric disorders, and natural neuroprotective agents. The lab investigates the behavioral and neurochemical effects of endocrine-disrupting chemicals like bisphenol A, explores the neuropharmacological actions of psychostimulants such as modafinil, and examines the anti-inflammatory properties of herbal extracts—including Lonicera japonica and Eucommia ulmoides—in microglial models. A central theme is the role of neuroinflammation and neurotransmitter systems (e.g., dopamine, glutamate, GABA) in anxiety, depression, and cognitive dysfunction, with translational implications for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.

Bisphenol A (BPA), an environmental endocrine-disrupting chemical, has been extensively evaluated for reproductive toxicity and carcinogenicity. However, little is known about the behavioral and neurochemical effects of BPA exposure. This study examined whether chronic daily exposure to an environmental endocrine-disrupting chemical, bisphenol A [(BPA); 100 microg/kg/day or 500 microg/kg/day, p.o.], from prenatal Day 7 to postnatal Day 36 would lead to changes in anxiety and memory in mice.
