Professor Chung-hyuk Choi's research lab specializes in orthopedic biomechanics and joint preservation, with a strong focus on total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in challenging patient populations, including younger patients and those with rheumatoid arthritis. The lab investigates innovative implant techniques—such as metal block augmentation for tibial bone defects—and explores biological modulation of osteoarthritis through herbal compounds that inhibit cartilage degradation. Additionally, the lab conducts clinical studies on venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in Asian patients following TKA, emphasizing patient-specific outcomes and safety.
