Professor Dae Jung Kim's research lab focuses on metabolic and chronic disease epidemiology, with a strong emphasis on the role of nutritional factors, lifestyle behaviors, and biomarkers in the development of type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and cardiovascular outcomes. The lab investigates long-term associations of micronutrients like magnesium, bioactive compounds such as indole-3-carbinol, and sleep duration with metabolic health and systemic inflammation. Using large-scale population-based cohorts and preclinical models, the lab aims to identify modifiable risk factors and develop predictive tools for early detection and prevention of metabolic disorders.
