Professor Dae Lim Koo's research lab focuses on the intersection of sleep medicine, neuroscience, and clinical neuropsychology, with a strong emphasis on understanding the neural and physiological mechanisms underlying sleep disorders and their cognitive and emotional consequences. The lab investigates brain-behavior relationships in conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, and epilepsy, using advanced neuroimaging techniques like diffusion tensor imaging and non-invasive sensors such as radar for sleep monitoring. A key research direction involves identifying tract-specific white matter abnormalities and their association with neurocognitive deficits, aiming to improve early diagnosis and personalized treatment strategies. The lab also explores the impact of sleep architecture, chronotype, and pharmacological interventions—such as levetiracetam—on cognitive and mood outcomes in clinical populations.
