研究室紹介
Professor Dae-Min Jo's research lab specializes in innovation management, technology policy, and market analysis with a focus on emerging biotechnology and advanced materials industries. The lab investigates the economic impact and commercialization potential of biomaterials such as chitosan, glucosamine, and hyaluronic acid, particularly in biomedical and functional food applications. It also explores strategic trends in global R&D investment, including offshore and onshore production shifts, with an emphasis on innovation policy, SME support systems, and technology commercialization frameworks.

15Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Korea play a pivotal role in the national economy. However, due to scale limitations, the resources available to SMEs for innovation activities are limited. Therefore, as a means to compensate for the market failure of SMEs, which can be caused by resource limitations, and to ensure sustainable growth, the government supports the SMEs for innovation activities. Korea has fulfilled SME R&D planning support projects since 2002 to efficiently support SMEs’
BACKGROUND: The molecular diagnostics market can be broadly divided into PCR (rt-PCR, d-PCR), NGS(Next Generation Sequencing), Microarray, FISH(Fluorescent in situ-hybridization) and other categories, based on the diagnostic technique. Also, depending on the disease being diagnosed, the market can also be divided into cancer, infectious diseases, HIV/STDs (herpes, syphilis), and women's health issues such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, HPV(human papillomavirus), and vaginitis
This study deals with the market analysis of chitosan and its derivatives in Japan. Japan is a world leader in this field (including industry and R&D). We have analysed chitosan market trend in Japan in order to prospect the technology and market trend in Korea indirectly. Chitosan and its derivatives were mainly used as an additive to functional food. However R&D activities in various application fields are being carried out. Chitosan (including its oligosaccharide) and glucosamine had shown si
These days, due to high standard of living and being a graying society, improving quality of life is rather practical pursuit than vague wish. The technology on polysaccharide which can be used in biomedical field is considered as an effective technology for this trend : polysaccharide is a natural material providing promotion of health. In this study, we show the economic impact of polysaccharide that can be applicable for biomedical industry, focusing on chitosan, glucosamine, hyaluronic acid,
R&D is a foundation for new business chance and productivity improvement leading to enormous expense and a long-term multi-step process. During the R&D process, decision-makers are confused due to the various future uncertainties that influence economic and technical success of the R&D projects. For these reasons, several decision-making models for R&D project investment have been suggested; they are based on traditional methods such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Decision Tree Analysis (DTA) an
This study deals with the market trend analysis of major polysaccharide materials(chitosan, hyaluronic acid, chondroitin, ß-glucan, fucoidan and glucosamine) in Japan. We analysed market trend in Japan in order to prospect the technology and market trend in Korea as Japan is a world leader in this field. Most of polysaccharides were used as an additive to health functional food, cosmetics or medical product. After analysed polysaccharide sales in Japan since 2003, we can find out polysaccharide
In this article, we put forward a conceptual framework for understanding latecomer's successful technological catch-up strategy in an industry segmented by technological generations. To do this, we observe and compare the technological trajectory, network centrality, technology quality, and technology growth of latecomers seeking technological catch-up in the telecommunication equipment industry. This research aims to empirically verify how accumulation and reconfiguration affect the evolution o

Understanding the value of technology is very important and necessary to manage technology based business effectively not only in the view of valuation of assets but also R&D strategy. The value of technology can be expressed as a value of the technology-contribution portion of the total net business profit which is gained by the technology commercialization. In this paper, we show simple numeric model to compute the technology-contribution factor for the valuation on the basis of an empirical a
Innovation is almost a necessity for business nowadays for being competitive. As a practical activity for technical innovation, the significance of R&D is getting on the rise more and more to either large or small and medium sized enterprises. Especially for small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), R&D is considered as a main factor for innovation and sometimes is considered as a key factor for their survival. In this paper, we investigate some success factors for SMEs' R&D and analyze their rel
